Domaine Ponsot 2011 "As is Laurent Ponsot’s wont, he harvested much later in 2011 than any of his neighbors, with the harvest starting here on September 15th and the last grapes brought in at the start of October . . . . The very old Aligoté vines in Monts Luisants celebrated their 100th anniversary in this vintage, having been planted in 1911, and I am sure that Laurent Ponsot will have some sort of commemorative label prepared to celebrate this milestone for the wine - which is indeed outstanding in this vintage . . . . what we did taste was very, very fine . . . as Monsieur Ponsot’s late harvesting has certainly produced some opulent and sappy wines that are quite impressive. I really enjoyed the tanginess that many of these wines displayed, despite their opulent, later-harvested fruit tones . . . . Domaine Ponsot 2012 "Laurent Ponsot has made stellar 2012s, with a sumptuousness and opulence that are so typical of his greatest vintages.
