Featuring The Old World/New World
We are very excited to offer nearly 115 immaculate, new selections from The Old World/New World in this week’s auction. Upon spending an afternoon in this San Diegan’s state-of-the-art wine cellar, we found ourselves immersed among some of the world’s most prestigious wines. This collector began building his cellar in the early 1990s, carefully gleaning bottles either en primeur, from allocation lists, or from direct distribution. This collection was stored in a beautifully-crafted home cellar for over fifteen years until it outgrew this first home and was finally moved to a professional wine storage facility in San Diego County several years ago.
Old World highlights include several lots of the acclaimed 2000 vintage from some of Bordeaux’s most sought after Châteaux: Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux, Pavie, Pichon Lalande, Angélus, Cos d’Estournel, and more. From Spain we have a breathtaking vertical of Pingus from the high-scoring 2007, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2000, and 1999 vintages. Equally impressive is the selection of New World collectibles coming from some of California’s finest producers. Highlights include nine vintages of Araujo Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard, both bottle and magnum formats of Blankiet Estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the Paradise Hills Vineyard, and Kongsgaard’s famous Chardonnay The Judge from the outstanding 2004 and 2005 vintages. Whether you are partial to one side of the old world vs new world debate or enjoy them both equally, you can be assured that these single-owner wines have been sourced and stored perfectly, lovingly.
