The Firenze Cellar
The Firenze Cellar comes to us from the lifelong collection of a Florentine wine lover. The composition of the cellar is almost exclusively Tuscan: buying direct from beloved properties in Bolgheri, Montalcino, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Scansano, and across the greater Chianti zone, he amassed his cellar steadily and hyper-locally, beginning in the early 1950s. Nearly every wine (with a handful of French exceptions) was acquired within 50 miles of the cellar itself.
He particularly prized his collections of Tignanello, Sassicaia, and Biondi-Santi. The cellar includes an extraordinary vertical of Biondi-Santi’s releases, including the inaugural Brunello bottling – the 1888 – which was rebouchée at the winery in Montalcino.
The wines were packed by the Spectrum Wine auction team in early 2022 and shipped via refrigerated transport to our facility. The current mid-April offering represents only a first tranche of this expansive cellar.
