“Deep ruby and opaque in color, the 2010 Cote Rotie Les Journaries offers a terrific bouquet of smoked plums and currant-like fruit intermixed with smoked meat, iron, violets and hints of charcoal. Wild and slightly funky, yet holding onto beautiful purity of fruit, this is a classic, medium to full-bodied Cote Rotie that has solid concentration, bright acidity and fine tannin, all of which are carried by a seamless, elegant texture. Give bottles another 3-4 years and enjoy this beauty through 2030.” 94pts Wine Advocate
Levet’s Côte-Rôtie “Journaries” is a traditionally produced, small production masterpiece. Approximately 1500 bottles are produced annually. Wines emanating from this estate represent the ongoing commitment to excellence and quality ethos of the hard-working husband and wife team of Bernard and Nicole Levet. Their daughter Agnes also contributes to the estate’s “quality first” philosophy. Their fastidious approach to detail, both in the vineyards and in the cuverie, is exemplary and produces wines which are well-structured and built for ageing. They age magnificently in bottle and at maturity represent a quality apex that is perhaps unmatched in terms of portraying the true nature of the terroir of Côte-Rôtie.
A traditional Brune + Blonde blend integrating both masculine + feminine components to give the wine superb balance and complexity, it is drawn from parcels of old-vine grapes harvested in La Landonne (you may have heard of this vineyard) and very old vine grapes from Côte Blônde which were planted in 1929! Levet’s 2010 Journaries is a “must-have” for any self-respecting Rhône Ranger or Syrah aficionado. In fact, anyone who collects well-made wines that capture the timeless magic of France will enjoy and appreciate this |

“A beautiful Condrieu that blew me away, Gerard’s single-vineyard 2013 La Côte Châtillon has classic minerality in its white peach, stone fruit and citrus aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, juicy and with superb mid-palate depth and a big finish, drink this classic Condrieu over the coming couple of years.” 92pts Wine Advocate
Made (100%) from the exotic Viognier grape, Gerard’s “Côte de Châtillon” has long been the estate’s flagship cuvee. This stellar production combines sublime fruit richness and complexity with subtle underpinnings of zesty minerality and lively acidity. It’s a high-wire balancing act that truly needs to be experienced in order to be appreciated. Viognier lovers (and you know who you are!), will not want to miss this!
