Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon
2015 St. Helena, Napa Valley - $179.99
WA 100 / VM 95
“Composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the deep purple-black colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon has a beautiful nose of dried roses, lavender and Chinese five spice over a core of warm blackcurrants, kirsch and wild blueberries, plus wafts of fallen leaves and dusty earth. The medium to full-bodied palate features the most amazing intensity of perfumed red, black and blue fruit flavors supported by exquisitely fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. Truly stunning.” Wine Advocate 100 Points

“Glorious aromas of blackcurrant, sage and blackberry. Stone undertones. Full body, round and silky with a focused and bright finish of dark berry and mint. Goes on for minutes. Such finesse and balance. Coolness.” Vinous 95 Points

Paul Hobbs Cabernet Sauvignon
2014 Napa Valley - $109.99
JS 95 / JD 94 / WA 92 / VM 91
"Aromas of tar, blackberries, cloves and dark chocolate. Perfumed. Full and focused with a beautiful center palate and length. Mostly from Nathan Combs in Coombsville with some Yountville-sourced fruit. Best ever. Drink or hold." James Suckling 95 Points

"The base release is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon and it comes from multiple sites throughout the valley. It’s a killer wine and offers the classic sweet crème de cassis and blackberry fruit that's the hallmark of the vintage. With loads of richness, notes of Asian spices, pencil lead and cedar, full-bodied richness, and sweet tannin, it's already drinking beautifully yet will keep for another two decades or more." Jeb Dunnuck 94 Points

"Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon leaps from the glass with fresh, exuberant cassis and crushed blackberry notes plus hints of cigar box, dried Mediterranean herbs, violets and Marmite toast. Full-bodied and built like a brick house, with firm, grainy tannins and lively acid supporting the generous black berry and savory flavors, it finishes with great length and poise. It is drinking beautifully now but has the stuffing to cellar for 12+ years." Wine Advocate 92 Points

"Paul Hobbs' 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a gorgeous wine. Beams of tannin give the wine much of its distinctive profile, but that is not especially surprising given that 55% of the fruit is sourced from Hobbs' Nathan Coombs estate. Dark cherry, plum, graphite and savory herbs are some of the signatures. Drink the 2014 over the next decade or so. The interplay of racy fruit and insistent underlying structure is compelling. Dollops of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot round out the blend." Vinous 91 Points

El Nido Red Blend
2015 Jumilla, Murcia, Spain - $119.99
WA 95
“Following the style of the Clio from the same vintage, the 2015 El Nido is a powerful, ripe and concentrated blend of Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Monastrell aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 23 months. It's bottled with 16% alcohol, not a shy wine but not one that shows heat, as it keeps the balance in an XL way. It feels concentrated, powerful and young, but the oak is surprisingly more integrated than in the 2014. As it happens with many wines, this is not for everybody, as it has a marked style, but for those who like this profile, this could very well be the finest vintage of El Nido to date.” Wine Advocate 95 Points
Arcudi Black Sears Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
2013 Howell Mountain, Napa Valley - $149.99
WA 95 / VM 94
“Coming from the famed Black Sears Vineyard, better known for its black bear as well as old vine Zinfandel, this is an interesting Cabernet Sauvignon from Tony Arcudi, who worked for Michel Chapoutier and Heidi Barrett before starting his own brand. His 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard spent 18 months in 50% new French oak. It is a gorgeous, flowery wine with loads of graphite, mulberry and blackberry followed by some spicy oak, a deep, rich, full-bodied mouthfeel, some supple tannins and a heady, lush finish.” Wine Advocate 95 Points

“Deep, inky and powerful, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Black Sears Vineyard oozes with class and intensity. This is one of the more voluptuous, forward 2013 Cabernets readers will come across. The flavors are bold and intense, but all the elements are in the right place. In this vintage, winemaker Tony Arcudi pressed early to avoid overextracting. Full throttle and opulent to the core, the 2013 needs a few years in bottle to drop some baby fat. Chocolate, mocha, black cherries, new leather and smoke add the closing shades of complexity as this powerful Cabernet shows off its distinctive personality.” Vinous 94 Points

Lewis Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
2015 Napa Valley - $159.99
From the winery: "From the outstanding 2015 vintage our Reserve Cabernet is powerfully seductive, brilliant and black in hue with kirsch-like crushed berries and showy cedar spice. Ripe, hi-tone fruit aromas are laced with candlewax, clove and cocoa. Expansive, with tiers of black fruit and velvety texture, the palate builds depth and power culminating in a muscular, long finish with supple young tannins."

Attractive forward, enticing nose with chocolate and cassis. Great concentration and very flavorful with chocolate, toffee and espresso carrying through to the long, lingering finish. This is flashy, rich, viscous Cabernet at its very best!
G.B. Crane Cabernet Sauvignon
2013 St. Helena, Napa Valley - $219.99
RP 98
The 2013 G. B. Crane Cabernet Sauvignon Composition is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petite Sirah and 2% Merlot. This is a big boy at 15.3% natural alcohol. Nevertheless, there’s no heat to it. It is a seamless classic from Napa, with copious quantities of blackberry and blackcurrant, some Asian spice and a full-bodied, nearly massive entry on the palate, with oodles of fruit, glycerin and extract. Tannins are present, but soft and well-integrated. This is a big, juicy, compelling effort from Dave Phinney that should drink well for 30 or more years. Robert Parker 98 Points
Maybach Materium Cabernet Sauvignon
2014 Weitz Vineyard, Oakville, Napa Valley
375 mL - $239.99
750 mL - $449.99
1500 mL - $924.99
RP 100
"The flagship, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium, represents 560 cases and achieved 14.8% alcohol after aging in 90% new Taransaud and Darnajou casks. Remarkably, the wine matches the perfect 2013, with extraordinary fragrance of blueberry, blackberry, forest floor, truffle, spring flowers and background barbecue smoke followed by a thick, unctuously textured, juicy, but incredibly well-balanced, intense wine. This is built like a skyscraper with enormous quantities of blueberry, blackberry and cassis fruit, well-integrated acidity and sweet, gentle tannins. This is an extraordinary effort from Maybach that can be drunk now or cellared for up to 30 or more years." Robert Parker 100 Points
