Roar Sierra Mar Vineyard Chardonnay
2016 Santa Lucia Highlands, CA - $44.99
JD 92-94
“Showing the more round, supple, yet concentrated style of the vintage, the 2016 Viognier Sierra Mar Vineyard offers textbook, tropical, floral and exotic notes in its layered, ripe, sexy style. It should be a step up over the 15.” Jed Dunnuck 92-94 Points

From the Winery: "Aromatics of lifted lemon and spiced pear shine through on our 2016 Sierra Mar Chardonnay. Light pineapple, citrus zest, and a viscous minerality coat the palate and build into fleshy white plum with nuanced white tea. Through a long finish, the fruit circles back to the bright citrus and pineapple, broadened by light cream and accented with a touch of spicy clove."
Domaine Faiveley Clos Des Myglands 1er Cru
2014 Mercurey, Burgundy, France - $49.99
WS 90
"A burst of raspberry and blueberry highlights this lean, sinewy version. Intense, with spice and mineral elements emerging as this plays out on the long aftertaste." Wine Spectator 90 Points

"Medium red. Aromas of red berries, cherry, licorice and spices accented by pungent peppery herbs. Lovely intensity and perfume to the red berry, menthol and floral flavors. Wonderfully pliant and creamy for young Mercurey, but with the mineral energy and definition and the lightly peppery aspect of the vintage. Crunchy red berry and red cherry fruit flavors offer immediate appeal. An excellent Mercurey wine with fine-grained tannins, a faintly herbal quality and subtle length--and showing very well today. (Incidentally, I retasted the Mercurey Clos du Roi 1er Cru, which I rated 89 points last year shortly after it was bottled and again next to the Clos des Myglands this fall. It's a more savory, less sweet style and a bit more bound-up but boasts noteworthy chewy depth and savory minerality." Vinous
Rombauer Merlot
2014 Napa Valley, CA - $38.99
WE 90
“Rich, ripe and full of powerful flavors of Christmas pudding, dark cherry and black currant that are backed by muscular acidity and tannins. Dried mint and slate details show on the dense finish.” Wine Spectator 91 Points

“Given additional structure from the addition of 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot, this well-made wine shows a wealth of plum and raspberry that's succulent on the palate. Soft supple tannin provides support and a touch of heat, the finish is awash in cinnamon and vanilla.” Wine Enthusiast 90 Points

Darioush Caravan Cabernet Sauvignon
2013 Napa Valley, CA  - $47.99
WE 90
“The winery's more accessible offering, this hearty full-bodied red is impressive in its smoky char and herbal kick—elements that ride along a thickness of tannin and black-fruit concentration.” Wine Enthusiast 90 Points

Caravan is the second label from Darioush and you can tell it's pedigree right off the bat. The nose is extremely enticing with dark currants and cassis plus hints of mocha and graphite. The mouth is a perfect and very flavorful continuation of the nose with a little more emphasis on the mocha. There are ample tannins that are fine and coating but not more than needed. This is a well made and balanced cabernet!
Croft Vintage Port
2003 Douro Valley, Portugal  - $64.99
WS 96 / WA 90 / VM 90
“Gorgeous aromas of blueberries and dried flowers follow through to a sweet, full-bodied palate. Velvety and round, with lovely fruit. Long finish.” Wine Spectator 96 Points

“The 2003 Croft has a relatively exotic nose for this Port, with cherry liqueur, peat, licorice and melted dark chocolate on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe black fruit. It is plush and heady, the acidity lower than the 2007 or 2009, so that the finish is rounded, decadent and spicy, without the tension and class of other vintages. It is a hedonistic delight, but it would not be my choice of Croft at the moment.” Wine Advocate 90 Points

“Bright, saturated ruby. Brooding aromas of bitter cherry, violet and licorice, lifted by a resiny nuance. Then densely packed, concentrated and fresh, with rich, fleshy flavors of kirsch and dark chocolate. Finishes with big, broad, thoroughly ripe tannins and very good lingering black cherry fruit. This is surprisingly easy to taste today but should age well on its ripe tannins and sheer balance.” Vinous 90 Points
