Raeburn Chardonnay 2016 Russian River Valley, Sonoma - $16.99 |
| | Attractive nose with toasty oak, pear and melon. Nice spice and toasty oak in the mouth, but not too much, to back up the ripe fruit and good level of acidity. Lovely finish with vanilla and pleasant toast. This is in perfect balance and is an excellent value that drinks like Chardonnays that are twice this price!
"Highlights the honeydew melon and spicy attributes of Chardonnay in an elegant, sophisticated manner." Wine Spectator |
| | Melville Estate Pinot Noir 2014 Santa Rita Hills, California - $29.99 WE 94 / VM 91 / WA 90 |
| | “Light raspberry-sorbet notes meet with fresh fennel fronds, pepper and cinnamon on the nose of this bottling from Chad Melville and family. It's tight and tart on the palate, with dried cranberry, pine needle and eucalyptus flavors that juxtapose with the more fruit-driven nose.” Wine Enthusiast 94 Points “The 2014 Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills) is absolutely delicious. Crushed rose petals and bright red stone fruits abound. Sweet, perfumed and light on its feet, the 2014 retains gorgeous acidity to balance the richness of the fruit. This is an absolutely joyous Pinot from Melville with tons of Sta. Rita Hills flamboyance. The 2014 is a blend of sixteen different Pinot clones done with 40% whole clusters and aged in neutral oak. Picks ranged from mid August to late September. This is a very nice appellation-level Pinot.” Vinous 91 Points
“Spice box, wild herbs, black currants and black cherry notes all emerge from this nicely fruited, plump, mouth-filling 2014 Pinot Noir Estate, which has present tannin and a solid finish. Mostly destemmed and aged 11 months in neutral barrels, it's a good value and will drink well for 4-5 years.” Wine Advocate 90 Points

| | Catena Zapata Malbec 2015 Mendoza, Argentina - $15.99 JS 92 / WA 91 |
| | “Aromas of blackberry and walnut with hints of flowers. Medium body, focused and bright with dried fruit and just a hint of mushroom in the aftertaste.” James Suckling 92 Points “The impressive 2015 Catena Malbec is subtle, balanced and elegant. It mixes fruit from many different zones, with the grapes from the higher part of Valle de Uco fermented with full clusters, the medium part (Vista Flores, lower La Consulta) destemmed and put together with the full clusters from the higher altitude vineyards and the lower parts totally destemmed and in stainless steel. This is a complex blend that showcases the typicity of Malbec in the province of Mendoza with perfumed notes of violets and black cherries, and a touch of spices. The palate has great balance, elegance and subtleness with very fine tannins. Great value for money.” Wine Advocate 91 Points

| | Domaine du Pegau 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône, France - $43.99
WA 94 / VM 93 / WS 93 |
| | | “One of my favorite wines, the 2012 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvee Réservée is a classic. Beautiful on the nose, with notions of ground pepper, wild herbs, minerality and smoked plum and dark fruit, it’s medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and has plenty of tannin that comes through on the finish. Similar in style to a lighter-weight 2010…” Wine Advocate 94 Points
“Opaque ruby. Heady aromas of black and blue fruits, potpourri and Indian spices, with a smoky element emerging with air. Taut and sharply focused on entry, then fleshier and broader in the mid-palate, offering vibrant boysenberry and black raspberry flavors with hints of candied violet, smoked meat and licorice. Finishes spicy and long, with repeating florality and slow-building tannins.” Vinous 93 Points
“A dark, alluring style, with tobacco, chestnut and alder notes surrounding a core of blackberry, plum and cherry fruit. Lots of garrigue details line the finish, showing a warm paving stone hint. Should settle in nicely in the cellar.” Wine Spectator 93 Points

| | Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 Rutherford, Napa Valley - $79.99 WA 94+ |
| | "Deep purple-black in color, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon springs from the glass with lifted crème de cassis, violets and chocolate box notes plus hints of lilacs, raspberry leaves, anise and cardamom. The perfumed black fruit preserves and chocolate-laced notes completely pack the full-bodied palate, with soft, velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing very long and very spicy. Definitely one for hedonists seeking immediate gratification." Wine Advocate 94+ Points |
