| J. Lasalle Champagne 1er Cru Cachet d'Or NV “There's an open-knit, almost airy feel to this vibrant Champagne, which carries a concentrated range of juicy pear and black raspberry fruit, with hints of crystallized honey. Shows gingersnap biscuit and verbena flavors on the chalky texture, gaining momentum on the racy, zesty finish." 92 Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator
Francine et Olivier Savary Chablis Sélection Vieilles Vignes 2018
"Savary’s VV bottling is the ultimate introduction to this magical combination: Chardonnay grown in Kimmeridgian limestone and a properly dosed élevage in wood. The electricity and minerality imparted by the soil are balanced by a buttery creaminess that is heavenly." Dixon Brooke, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant
Château d'Epiré Savennieres 2017 "Layered and schisty, this wine’s dark, earthy tone points to the complex beauty it may achieve with age. The fruit is a little mature, in a bruised-apple way, but it also has crunchy-green-pear freshness. Give it a year or two for those elements to meld." 90 Wine & Spirits
Domaine Hauvette Alpilles Blanc Jaspe 2015 "Once again, prepare yourself to be wowed. I now have three favorite Roussannes. One is from the Ravaille brothers at Pic Saint Loup (fine, theirs isn’t 100% Roussanne, but who’s counting?). Then there is the Chignin-Bergeron from the Quenard family in the Savoie. Here’s the third. From vines deeply rooted in the garrigue-encrusted, limestone foothills of Les Alpilles, Jaspe is fermented in concrete eggs and aged briefly in stainless steel. A gorgeous perfume of honeysuckle meets the nose, and the wine is at once both lush and nervy, comforting and stimulating. It is picture-perfect with Provençal cuisine, those garlicky, herby, tomato-based dishes that sometimes give white wine a hard time." Dixon Brooke, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant
Domaine Chignard Fleurie Les Moriers 2018 "Brilliant violet color. A suave, mineral-accented bouquet evokes ripe red/blue fruits and candied flowers and a spicy nuance builds in the glass. Bright, seamless and appealingly sweet, offering concentrated yet lively raspberry and boysenberry flavors that firm up slowly with aeration. Ripe but graceful in style, finishing gently tannic and impressively long, leaving a sexy lavender pastille note behind." 93 Josh Raynolds, Vinous
Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly 2018 "The 2018 Côte de Brouilly is still a little closed after its recent bottling, but it's a promising wine in the making, unwinding in the glass with scents of cherries, plums, licorice and rich soil tones, complemented by floral top notes that blossom as the wine sits in the glass. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, broad and satiny, with a textural, enveloping profile, a deep and voluminous core, ripe but succulent acids and powdery structuring tannins." 93 Josh Raynolds, Vinous
Domaine de Villaine Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Fortune 2017 "The 2017 Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Fortune is a very charming rendition of this cuvée, bursting with notes of raspberries, rhubarb and rose petals. On the palate, it's medium bodied, with powdery tannins, ripe acids and a delicate core of fruit, concluding with a fragrant finish." William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Pierre Guillemot Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Serpentières 2017 "The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Serpentières is the king of the cellar this year, unfurling in the glass with attractive aromas of plums, strawberries, cinnamon and orange rind. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and juicy, with nice depth at the core, supple structuring tannins and a deceptively open-knit profile for a wine that I suspect will develop for a surprisingly long time in bottle." 90-93 William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Clos Saint-Joseph I.G.P. Méditerranée Rouge 2017 "In 2017, a hail storm destroyed much of Clos Saint Joseph’s red grapes. Half of this bottling comes from grapes from Clos Saint Joseph’s vines. The other half comes from donations of grapes from a large group of Provence’s top growers (an organization called Rouge Provence, intended to create solidarity among growers and promote Provence’s historic red wines) including Domaine Tempier, Domaine Hauvette, and Domaine de la Tour du Bon. All these grapes come from different AOCs (Bandol, Coteaux de Baux, Coteaux d’Aix, Coteaux Varois, Côtes de Provence), which is why the wine’s designation is I.G.P Méditerranée instead of Côtes de Provence." Importer Notes, Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant
Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge Pour Lulu 2017 "At Domaine Tempier grapes from our different vineyards are skillfully blended to create this wine, made up of between 70 and 75% Mourvedre (depending on the year) combined with Grenache, Cinsault and a hint (2%) of old Carignan. This fruity, well balanced wine can be enjoyed after 3 or 4 years, but develops extremely pleasant tertiary aromas (leather, animal and undergrowth) with further ageing. The wine’s balance gives it an ageing potential of 15 years or more. The Cuvée Classique blend combines grapes from the estate’s different terroirs. In the area known as ‘Le Petit Moulin de la Cadière’, named after its windmill, the vines grow on south-facing terraces stretching out over hilly terrain. The soil in this part of the vineyard is characterised by the presence of fossilised seashells (85 million year old bivalve molluscs). Clay is found to varying depths throughout the estate’s soil and, although the clay is quite dense, alluvial layers comprised of silt-sand sediment deposits are also present. One might think these looser layers in the soil would have little influence on the wine, but in fact they provide excellent drainage which helps to produce very refined wines." Producer Notes, Domaine Tempier
Domaine La Tour Vieille Banyuls Rimage 2016 “. . . the 2016 Banyuls Rimage could certainly end up being outstanding. It’s medium ruby/opaque color is followed by perfumed notes of flowers, violets and juicy, jammy fruits. It’s medium to full-bodied and nicely textured, and leans firmly towards the more fresh, elegant side of Banyuls." 89-91 Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate
