Jean Chauvenet Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 2012
"From a 0.28 ha parcel . . . . there is good freshness and intensity to the detailed and minerally flavors that possess a refined texture before culminating in a spicy and mildly austere finish. The close proximity to Vosne is very much in evidence."

Jean Chauvenet Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières 2012
"From a 0.23 ha parcel . . . . plum, floral and black cherry aromas. There is exceptionally good richness to the impressively concentrated and ripe medium weight flavors where the supporting tannins are well-buffered by the abundance of dry extract that also imparts a seductive texture to the opulent finish. Despite the pronounced richness of the mid-palate this remains more a wine of finesse than the description would suggest."

Jean Chauvenet Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes 2010
"Here too there is a deft application of wood surrounding the ripe, cool and fresh aromas of black cherry, raspberry and violets with background notes of earth and stone. The supple, round and quite forward flavors are delicious and are supported by unusually fine-grained tannins before culminating in a precise, dusty, complex and solidly persistent finish. Lovely and I especially like the intensity."

Arlaud Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Aux Cheseaux 2013
". . . sports a light and agreeable marine influence on the nose: hints of sea spray infusing the crisp black fruit. The palate is very well defined with a citrus-like freshness, very fine tannin and supremely focused dark berry fruit interlaced with minerals on the finish. This dares to out-play the les Millandes this year...and it might just do it once in bottle."

Arlaud Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Ruchots 2013
"From 40+ year old vines . . . . the underlying fruit clearly seems ripe. There is equally good ripeness to the structural elements underpinning the rich, delicious and palate coating flavors that deliver fine depth and length on the well-balanced finish. Note that this is more robust than usual . . ."

Arlaud Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Millandes 2013
"From two parcels that are 25 and 48 years old, the 2013 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru les Millandes has a fragrant and quite floral bouquet that is very harmonious . . . . The palate is actually better than the nose suggests: fine and quite firm tannin, pure black fruit and more mineral notes on the finish that you can shake a stick at. Once the aromatics begin to open . . . this will be a serious Morey Millandes."
90-92 | Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

Jean-Marc Morey Santenay 1er Cru Grand Clos Rousseau 2010
"In our opinion, perhaps the top red wine in the Morey range. The parcel is about one-half hectare in size and the vines were planted in 1993. The ‘Grand Clos Rousseau’ from Morey is a classic rendition of the best of Santenay: intensely aromatic with notes of truffles, earth and red fruits, well-structured with a substantial backbone of grainy, sweet tannins.”

Rollin Père & Fils Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Les Fichots 2010
"A mix of 35 and 65+ year old vines . . . . even earthier than the Vergelesses with dense aromas of iron-inflected dark berry fruit that emits a hint of the sauvage. There is solid mid-palate concentration to the impressive complex flavors that enjoy an abundance of palate coating dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm tannins on the impressively well-balanced and persistent finish. This is excellent and Fichots typically ages exceptionally well and I see no reason why this example shouldn't either."

Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles Rouge 2010
". . . refined aromas of red berries, cassis and a soft floral note. There is good volume but also fine detail to the delicious middle weight flavors that evidence a very subtle hint of minerality on the attractively balanced, dusty and persistent finish. Lovely and built to age as this will require up to a decade to arrive at its peak."

Chandon de Briailles Corton Les Bressandes 2012
". . . absolutely singing at the time of my visit. The gorgeous bouquet is a complex and very pure blend of red and black cherries, gamebirds, Asian spices, iron-like soil tones, coffee, woodsmoke, cocoa and a touch of fresh nutmeg in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure on the attack and very stony in its soil profile, with a sappy core, superb transparency, ripe, well-integrated tannins and simply stunning length and grip on the young and very, very refined finish. A great bottle of Corton in the making!"

Gérard Raphet Charmes-Chambertin Cuvée Unique 2012
"4 parcels of vines totaling 1.2 ha - two-thirds of which is from Charmes proper with the remainder from Mazoyères. A more elegant nose of relatively high-toned red berry fruit enjoys added breadth in the form of earth, sauvage and spice nuances. The supple, round and accessible middle weight flavors possess a lovely sense of energy on the moderately complex but relatively powerful finish . . ."

Arlaud Clos de la Roche 2013
"Full red-ruby. Sexy, wild aromas of black raspberry and musky underbrush. Plush and fine-grained but also quite lively and light on its feet; conveys superb energizing acidity for such a ripe wine. Finishes with explosive purple fruits, flowers and licorice, with firm, ripe tannins providing support and carrying the fruit. This highly concentrated wine really reverberates on the long finish."
