Herbert Beaufort Brut Réserve Les Facettes NV This wonderful Brut champagne by Herbert de Beaufort is a blend of 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay from their 16.5 acres located in Bouzy. This traditionally made champagne greets you with a nose full of rich brioche, followed by luscious flavors of yellow fruit and hazelnuts. The racy acidity is mouth-watering, and allows for a wide-range of pairing options.
Serge Dagueneau et Filles Pouilly Fumé Les Pentes 2015 "The 2015 Pouilly-Fumé Les Pentes opens precise and well defined on the nose, where herbal and vegetal flavors (fennel seeds and leafs) intertwine with delicate stone fruit aromas and flinty/stony notes. Full-bodied, almost lush and lovely piquant, this is a very elegantly textured wine with a refined mineral acidity and a perfect balance of fruit, body, minerals and acidity. The finish is tight, salty and seriously long. Still restrained a bit, but surely one of the finest wines from the Dagueneau daughters in this tasting." 91 Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate Domaine Guerrin Macon Vergisson Les Rochers 2014 “A fabulous Chardonnay that comes from the Sur la Roche (limestone) and Folland (more clay) lieux-dits, the 2014 Macon-Vergisson Les Rochers exhibits beautiful orchard and citrus fruits, toast and a kiss of honeysuckle on the nose. This gives way to a medium-bodied, nicely textured, racy white that has plenty of character.” Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate
Domaine Vincent & Francois Jouard Chassagne Montrachet Morgeot Les Fairendes 2014 “The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeots Les Fairendes is a little straight-laced following on from the Chenevottes and perhaps does not quite deliver the same tension and mineralité. The palate is well balanced with good weight in the mouth, leaning slightly towards the nuttiness of a Meursault, and displaying convincing vigour if not life-affirming complexity on the "correct" finish.” 90+ Neil Martin, The Wine Advocate
Anthony & David Girard Sancerre Les Monts Damnés 2015 Anthony Girard took over Domaine Girard in 2007, with his brother David joining in 2015. Working the vines hand-planted in Les Monts Damnés by their grandfather Serge, the brothers Girard produce a crisp and elegant Sancerre utilizing stainless steel and indigenous yeasts. The end result is an exhilarating Sancerre that showcases the typical bracing acidity, flint, and bright stonefruit for which the region is known.
Domaine du Vissoux - Pierre-Marie Chermette Brouilly Pierreux 2015 “Bright violet. Ripe cherry and dark berries on the powerful, spice-accented nose. Supple and open-knit, offering fleshy cherry and cassis flavors lifted by a jolt of juicy acidity. Shows very good energy and breadth on the gently tannic, dark-fruit-dominated finish, which leaves a sappy blue fruit note behind.” 91 Josh Raynolds, Vinous
Domaine Michel Juillot Mercurey 1er Cru Clos des Barraults 2015 “Seductive and opulent raspberry nose. The palate is quite rich, with fine-grained tannins and concentrated but not extracted fruit of intensity and finesse. Beautifully poised and persistent.” 92 William Kelley, Decanter
Domaine Philippe Charlopin Gevrey-Chambertin Morceaux Vieilles Vignes 2014 "Up there with the 2010 and flirting with perfection, the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape les Grenaches de Pierre is about as incredible an expression of old vine Grenache as you can find. Still deep ruby colored, it offers up an insane bouquet of kirsch, cassis, exotic flowers, pepper, garrigue and licorice that flows seamlessly to a full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, yet layered and elegant profile on the palate. It’s one of those rare wines that carries phenomenal richness, yet never seems heavy, cumbersome or puts a foot wrong . . . . this cuvée comes from 100-year-old vines planted in the sandy soils of the La Crau and Pignan lieux-dits. It’s made from 100% Grenache and aged almost completely in concrete tank.” 93 Bruce Sanderson, The Wine Spectator
Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays 2014 “This is such a perfumed wine with deceptively soft tannins and great fruit. The acidity is classic for the vintage, with raspberries and intense freshness at the end. It has a fine line of tannins and a life that will go far.” 96 Roger Voss, The Wine Enthusiast
Patrick & Christophe Bonnefond Côte-Rôtie Colline de Couzou 2014 “Inky ruby. Ripe dark berry and cherry compote scents complemented by suggestions of licorice and pungent flowers. Deep and sweet but lively as well, offering sappy black and blue fruit flavors and a jolt of peppery spices. The long, subtly sweet finish features supple tannins and a lingering floral note.” 90-92 Josh Raynolds, Vinous
Domaine Les Grands Bois Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Philippine 2015 “The 2015 Côtes du Rhône Villages Cuvee Philippine (60/40 Grenache and Syrah aged in tank) is a rich, ripe, medium to full-bodied red that has a 2010 level of purity and polish. Black raspberries, cassis, toasted spice and licorice all emerge from the glass, and it has ripe, chewy tannin.” 92 Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate
Domaine Les Grands Bois Côtes du Rhône Cuvée Gabrielle 2015 "More fine and elegant than the Les Trois Sœurs, the 2015 Côtes du Rhône Villages Cuvee Gabrielle (60/40 Grenache and Syrah) offers lots of upfront black and blue fruits, licorice and white pepper in its fresh, medium to full-bodied, elegant personality." 91 Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate
Domaine des Soulanes Cuvée Jean Pull 2015 "Gorgeous wine from Daniel Laffite as vintage 2015 continues to show its potential here. Cuvee Jean Pull is 30 year old vines of Grenache planted on schist, and Carignan on clay/limestone that yield a serious wine combining the power and drive compliments of schist and the weight and density provided by clay with mineral drive of limestone. No oak, this is an excellent example of what the Catalanes can provide and at such a bargain. Excellent full-bodied red that speaks of where it comes." Bob Sprentall, B-21 Wine Co
Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf du Pape 2014 "Anyone who is at all familiar with the great estates of the Rhône Valley will know, love and respect the wines of Laurent Charvin. His 2014 is superb and recently garnered some outstanding ink from Josh Raynolds of Vinous who notes, “Brilliant ruby-red. Powerful raspberry, floral pastille and Asian spice aromas show outstanding clarity and vivacity. Energetic flavors of red fruit preserves and lavender are given spine and definition by zesty minerality. The floral and red fruit notes carry strongly through a clinging, sharply focused finish framed by smooth, slow-building tannins. This wine is shaping up to be a classic Charvin rendition of Châteauneuf, displaying abundant upfront fruit along with the depth and balance to ensure a long, graceful evolution.” 94-95 Josh Raynolds, Vinous
