Dubreuil-Fontaine Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Vergelesses 2013
"A slightly more deeply pitched nose of red and dark currant aromas is liberally laced with earth and sauvage nuances. The delicious and sleek middle weight flavors possess better complexity. . ."
Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Paul Lato Pinot Noir Solomon Hills Vineyard 2007
“From Dijon clones 115 and 777, this wine exhibits sweet blueberry, black raspberry, and kirsch notes intermixed with a perfumed floral note. This full-bodied, opulent wine has extraordinary elegance, precision, and finesse, but is layered, beautifully textured, and lush.”
95 Robert M. Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate

Jayer-Gilles Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Hauts Poirets 2007
"Plum and cherry mingle with beef bouillon in Gilles Jayer’s 2007 Nuits-St.-Georges Hauts Poirets, whose ripe fruit preserves an invigoratingly saline edge and is suffused on a finely-textured palate with saliva-inducing salinity; bitter sweet inner-mouth florality; as well as fruit pit and chalk notes that lend a slightly austere note to the long and otherwise mouthwatering finish."
91 David Schildknecht, The Wine Advocate

Rocche dei Manzoni Barolo 2011
"I love the purity of fruit here with dark cherry, dried Asian mushroom and dark chocolate powder. Full body, chewy tannins and wonderful balance. This is long and intense. Serious tannin backbone! . . . . Better than [the] 2010."
92 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

McPrice Myers Beautiful Earth 2011
“Gorgeously pure, fresh and focused, with knockout purity, it dishes out layers of blackberry, chocolate, smoke and floral undertones to go with a full-bodied and impeccably balance profile on the palate.”
94 Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate

Rocche dei Manzoni Barolo Vigna d'la Roul 2010
"Iron, smoke and a host of ferrous notes open up in the 2010 Barolo Vigna d’la Roul. Rich, powerful and structured to the core, the 2010 is a wine that needs time, and lots of it. Tobacco, dried flowers, underbrush, licorice and red fruit are framed by large-scaled, imposing tannins.”
92+ Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Château Lespault-Martillac 2010
“An opaque ruby/purple color and aromas of graphite, barbecue smoke and black currants are followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated wine displaying impressive purity, texture and length.”
89-91 Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate

Domaine de Fontbonau Côtes-du-Rhône Les Chaux de Fontbonau 2009
Domaine de Fontbonau is a 42 hectare estate located in the Southern Rhône region in a hilly and wild environment, with woods of truffle oak trees, safe rocks, junipers, olive trees and lavender fields as its closest neighbors. Jérôme Malet, owner of Domaine Sarda-Malet in Perpignan and Frederic Engerer, the managing director of Château Latour in Pauillac, Château Grillet and Domaine d'Eugénie in Vosne-Romanée, revived this estate graced by centuries of history in 2008. Composed of roughly 90% Grenache (70-year-old vines) and 10% Syrah (30-year-old vines).

Rocche dei Manzoni Barolo Vigna d'la Roul 2006
A massive, tightly wound frame houses dark red cherries, minerals, iron and licorice in a powerful expression of Nebbiolo. The Vigna d'la Roul shows incredible thrust on the palate, with a long, intense finish that suggests it will offer very fine drinking for many, many years...once it awakes from what is likely to be a prolonged slumber in bottle. Clean, mineral notes add the final elements of vibrancy to the finish. The Vigna d'la Roul is the freshest and potentially longest-lived of the estate's 2006 Baroli."
95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Le Mas de L'Ecriture Terrasses du Larzac Emotion Occitane 2006
"Equal parts Carignan, Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah. Still with the quirky old-style 'bugs or aliens?' label - artwork done by Charles Stratos, an internationally acclaimed contemporary artist from Provence . . . . the Carignan is from old vines. Generous warm fruit on the nose. Very juicy, rich dark fruit and dancing with life. Spice and liquorice. Rounded and so fresh."
Tamlyn Currin, JancisRobinson.com

René Rostaing Côte-Rôtie La Landonne 1998
"The stellar nose reveals an absolute classic mix of red and black raspberries, coffee, pepper, black olives, gamebird, woodsmoke, marvelous soil tones and a bit of nutskin in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and very soil-driven, with outstanding focus and grip, moderate tannins and lovely balance on the long, pure and complex finish."
94+ John Gilman, View From the Cellar

E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Landonne 1991
“The 1991's bouquet offers huge, smoky, new saddle leather, licorice, Asian spice, meaty, and cassis scents. Black in color, with layers of richness, huge body, massive extraction, and a phenomenal finish, it is another legend from Marcel Guigal.”
99 Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate

Groth Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 1990
"Distinctive and has a lot of personality. Packs in ripe currant, black cherry, herb and coffee flavors that are deep and complex. Framed by toasty, buttery oak, it finishes with a broad range of flavors and firm but supple tannins." [1994 WS Top 100: Rank 20]
