| | | Bond begins its story in 1997, after Bill Harlan sold his stake in Merryvale Winery in St. Helena. With long-time friends and winemaker Bob Levy at his side, Bill parlayed his vineyard knowledge to select the 5 best sites in Napa Valley: Melbury, Pluribus, Quella, St. Eden, and Vecina. These “Grand Cru” sites are located on the hillsides of the Vaca and Mayacamas mountain ranges, each purveying its unique history and terroir. Unlike most traditional grower/buyer relationships, Bond is not satisfied to just purchase grapes from well-regarded sites. Bond employs their own vineyard management team at each site, and will not vinify the grapes until the site has reached their rigorous specifications (usually 5-7 years). From here, meticulous attention to detail is employed at every stage of the process. Each vineyard is picked several times throughout the Autumn to ensure that they are all at peak ripeness. Each lot is vinified separately, and only the best barrels are blended together to form Bond.
The end result is a precise, elegant and complex Cabernet Sauvignon: unique to each vineyard, but distinctively Bond.
