Mondot 2015
“Sweet floral aromas, as well as potpourri, earth-dusted dark berries and cassis. The palate’s dusty tannins are bathed in rich, dark berry and plum flavors. Great plushness and intensity here. A weighty finish. Drink or hold.”

Château Troplong Mondot 2015
“A wine I was able to taste on multiple occasions, the 2015 Troplong Mondot is a tour de force that readers need to snatch up. This cuvee comes from the cool, clay and limestone soils on the upper plateau (it’s the highest point in the appellation) and is a blend of 92% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, harvest between September 30th and October 21st, that was brought up in 85% new French oak. Sporting a deep, inky color as well as a sensational bouquet of creme de cassis, blackberry, toasted spice, licorice and spring flowers, it’s another huge wine from this estate that has perfect balance between its fruit, oak and tannin, a stacked mid-palate, and an incredible finish. I wrote ‘crazy good’ more than once in my notes. It has enough fruit and texture to drink nicely even today, yet needs 4-5 years of cellaring and will keep for two to three decades. It's one of the great wines of the vintage . . . . Aymeric de Gironde, formerly at Cos d’Estournel, has been brought in as the new director, and it will be interesting to see what and if any changes are implemented . . . . this is a gorgeous property, lying at heart of Saint-Emilion at the highest point of the plateau, and they’ve produced some of the wines of the vintage in both 2015 and 2016.

Château Troplong Mondot 2012
“A flat-out gorgeous wine in the vintage is the 2012 Troplong Mondot, which sports an inky ruby/purple color to go with heavenly notes of black currants, smoked earth, plums, licorice and graphite. Full-bodied, seamless, ultra-pure and impressively concentrated, this blockbuster effort needs 3-4 years in the cellar to let the tannins integrate, and it will knock your socks off over the following two decades.”

Château Troplong Mondot 2011
"The brilliant 2011 Troplong Mondot is one of the superstars of the vintage. The final blend was 89% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, and the wine tips the scales at 14.5% alcohol. Its opaque blue/purple, nearly black color is followed by aromas of blueberry liqueur interwoven with black raspberries, blackberries, licorice, camphor and forest floor. Among the most complete wines of the vintage, with no hollowness, astringency or herbaceousness, this is a tour de force in a challenging vintage. Some tannins are noticeable, but this 2011 is already approachable and should provide delicious, complex drinking over the next two decades. Bravo!"

Château Troplong Mondot 2010
“Inky, bluish/black/purple, with notes of spring flowers, licorice, camphor, graphite, and a boatload of blueberry, black raspberry and blackberry fruit, this is a powerful, full-bodied Troplong Mondot. All the building components of acidity, tannin, wood and alcohol are judiciously and impressively integrated. It is a blend of 90% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc made by Christine Valette and her husband Xavier Pariente . . .”

Château Troplong Mondot 2009
“It boasts an inky/purple color along with a gorgeous bouquet of mocha, chocolate, blackberry and cassis fruit, an unctuous texture, a full-bodied, viscous mouthfeel and a skyscraper-like, multilayered finish. This spectacular wine is nearly overwhelming in its richness, thickness and intensity. Once all its baby fat falls away, the terroir characteristics and additional nuances will emerge. This blockbuster, fabulous Troplong Mondot will benefit from 10-15 years of cellaring and keep for three decades or more.”
99 Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate

Château Troplong Mondot 1999
“Tasted at the 1999 horizontal at Bordeaux Index. Clearer in colour than the Grand Mayne, this has a fresh, well-defined, feminine bouquet and aromas of blackberry, bilberry and a little mint. It has a lightness, a deftness of touch that is endearing. The palate is medium-bodied, very good weight, a slightly lactic/chocolate note on the entry, moderate acidity, nice grip . . . . Blackberry, a touch of smoke and raspberry leaf, this Troplong Mondot is evolving impressive finesse. Lovely.”

Château Troplong Mondot 1990
“An absolutely awesome Troplong-Mondot that flirts with perfection, this dense purple-colored wine has a thrilling bouquet of creme de cassis, espresso roast, licorice, white flowers, vanilla, and blackberries. Full-bodied, gorgeously concentrated, yet light on its feet, this extravagantly rich, luxuriously fruited wine is just beginning to reach its plateau of maturity. A profound tour de force in winemaking.”

Château Troplong Mondot 1988
“The 1988 Troplong Mondot is a vintage that I have not tasted for many many years, i.e never. It has quite a deep colour. It has a very pleasant bouquet, maybe a little gentle after 30 years, brambly blackberry and bilberry fruit, quite precise, hints of black truffle developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly rustic tannin, almost Left Bank in terms of structure with a fresh, graphite tinged finish . . . . there is something just very “honest” about this 1988 Saint-Émilion.”

Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel #19 2003
"The 2003 Riesling Auslese Oberhauser Brucke exhibits a terrific nose of perfume, lilies, violets, and apples. Broad, supple, and round, this pure, medium-bodied wine has the personality and grace of a plump, joyful dancer. Its plush, sweet white fruit-packed core is dusted with spices whose flavors are seamlessly extended into its prolonged finish . . . . Bravo to Helmut Donnhoff for this magical line-up!"
