Join Spectrum Wine Auctions and the iconic Château Pichon Baron for a special autumn tasting menu at acclaimed Chef Richard Blais's Juniper & Ivy in San Diego's Harborview neighborhood.

With history dating back (at least) to Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan's 1689 formation of the Enclos Rauzan vineyard in Pauillac near Château Latour, Château Pichon Baron has over the centuries come to define the power, grace, and longevity of which the finest wines of Bordeaux are capable.

We will be pouring some of the Château's greatest vintages dating back to the extraordinary 1989 together with a selection of world-class offerings from the AXA Millésimes portfolio.

Wines Will Include

Château Suduiraut S de Suduiraut 2014
60% Sémillon, 40% Sauvignon Blanc.  "Fresh and tangy with sliced apples, honey and peaches. Full body with a long finish. This has more sémillon than the previous vintages and it paid off."
90-91 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

Domaine de L'Arlot Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de l’Arlot 2012
"A huge, boisterous wine, the 2012 Nuits Saint Georges Clos de L'Arlot hits the palate with waves of dark, balsamic-inflected fruit. The 2012 is deep and vertical, with superb depth and tons of pure power. Readers will need to be patient, as the 2012 is built for the cellar. There is plenty of underlying structure, but the fruit is so rich, the tannins are nearly buried by the sheer richness of the fruit. In a normal vintage the Domaine has 10-12 barrels of the Clos de L'Arlot. In 2012 there are 5."
93-95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Château Pichon Baron Griffons de Pichon Baron 2012
"The 2012 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is dark, voluptuous and immediate. A burst of sweet red plums, smoke, graphite, licorice and tobacco hits the palate. The tannins are sweet but also energetic. Extroverted in style, the 2012 also has enough depth and overall density to drink well for another decade or so. Rose petal, iron and white pepper add the final shades of nuance. Here in its first vintage, Les Griffons is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot."

Château Pichon Baron 2010
"Administrator Christian Seeley thinks the 2010 is the greatest Pichon Baron he has ever made, equaling some of the estate’s colossal wines from vintages such as 1989 and 1990. It was certainly showing well when I stopped by the Château in January. Opaque purple, with loads of charcoal, licorice, incense and some exotic Asian spices along with abundant cassis liqueur, blackberry and hints of roasted coffee and spring flowers, it is full-bodied and opulent, with relatively high tannins, but they have sweetened up considerably . . . . The oak is clearly pushed to the background by the wine’s wealth of fruit, glycerin and full-bodied texture. This sensational Pichon Baron needs . . . cellaring, and should keep 30+ years."

Château Pichon Baron 2000
"The 2000 Château Pichon Baron is just getting better and better and better . . . . just...wow. This is a millennial Left Bank with the keys to the top drawer. It has an incredibly precise, mineral-driven bouquet with intense black fruit infused with cedar and graphite scents. It just reeks of Pauillac in an almost uncompromising, yet compelling manner. The palate is structured, stylish and effortless, extraordinarily pure and unerringly youthful. This is a Pichon Baron saying, 'You ain't seen nothing yet.' You could broach this now if you wanted . . . . Tasted January 2016."
97 Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

Château Pichon Baron 1996
"Delicious open nose: spicy and tarry with some savoury minerality. The palate is quite structured with firm tannins but also a good depth of fruit. Lovely structure. Still quite youthful, but opening out a bit; quite a big, structured wine. Very good/excellent."
93 Jamie Goode, WineAnorak.com

Château Pichon Baron 1990
"A remarkable vintage for Pichon Baron, 1990 is one of this estate’s two or three finest wines made in the last 40 years. Still inky/blue/purple-tinged to the rim, it reveals an extraordinary bouquet of charcoal, incense, crème de cassis, blue and black fruits, and a hint of licorice as well as an impressively long finish. While drinkable, its evolution is extremely slow, and I would not be surprised to see it last another two decades or more."
97 Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate

Château Pichon Baron 1989
"This textbook Pauillac is showing great today. The tobacco, blackberry, earth, cedar and cigar box aromas really pop. Full bodied, concentrated, rich and long, the wine lingers and builds. If you have a bottle, this is a great time to taste it."
97 Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

Château Suduiraut 2001
"Gorgeous aromas of honey, passion fruit, mango and candied lemon rind. Full-bodied and ultraconcentrated, yet balanced and refined. It lasts for minutes on the palate. This has just about everything in the right place. Stunning."
98 James Suckling, Wine Spectator

Quinta do Noval Vintage Porto 1975
"Mature aromas of redcurrant, marzipan, smoke, underbrush and gunflint, plus a whiff of exotic fruits. Moderately dense and rich in extract . . ."
