| "The highway that leads from Verona to Bolzano, with its dramatic views of the Dolomites, is one of Italy’s most picturesque roads. Just outside of Trento, Elisabetta Foradori makes reference-point wines .... Granato, her top bottling, is a selection of the estate’s top fruit.
Elisabetta Foradori continues to set a very high bar for Trentino - and the rest of Italy, for that matter .... Readers should do whatever they can to taste these magnificent wines. Antonio Galloni, Vinous |
| | | "There’s something about the Foradori wines today that evokes a sensation of pure energy and wholeness. Not to say that wine is unhealthy, especially in moderation, but these wines feel as if they emerge more from a mystical apothecary than a winery. This is especially surprising when you visit the estate and original vineyards, which are located in the shadows of the Dolomites but also nestled into the bustling commune of Mezzolombardo, about 15 kilometers north of Trento.
Things start to make a lot more sense once sons Emilio and Theo, of the winery's dynamic owner Elisabetta Foradori, begin to talk about the processes and passion behind their portfolio. At this time, Emilio and Theo Foradori are the driving force behind the vineyard management and winemaking at the estate; their sister Myrtha is working on a project to create a total polycultural approach within the vineyards. This is biodiversity to the max, as greenhouses can be found across the vineyards, along with flowers, lettuces, and vegetables. It goes without saying that the family follows biodynamic principles throughout all of their processes. Macerations are handled gently like a tea infusion and fermentations are completed using partial or full whole-cluster inclusion. New oak is completely avoided ....
The wines have gained a level of purity and energy seldom seen, all while retaining fantastic complexity. The new releases are already so enjoyable that it’s hard to recommend waiting, yet they possess a balance that will reward patience. Eric Guido, Vinous |
| | | 100% Teroldego; Granato is sourced form 3 parcels of the estate’s oldest vines planted between 1938 and 1956 in the gravelly portions of the Dolomitic limestone soil; the old, genetically diverse Granato vine material is also now the source for all Teroldego vine propagation at the estate; biodynamically farmed and hand-harvested; partially destemmed, indigenous fermentation in open wood vats with cappello sommerso; aged approx. 15 months in 22hl botti; unfined and unfiltered

| ▪ "This shows deep red and dark berry character with peppery notes, dark chocolate, hibiscus and grapefruit peel. Just a touch of cedar and smoked herbs. Full and concentrated, so steady and dense with vibrant, finely polished tannins and vivid acidity, giving nerve to the wine, highlighting the savory fruit and minerality. Very long and tense. From biodynamically grown fruit with Demeter certification. Drink or hold." Zekun Shuai, JamesSuckling.com

| ▪ "So youthful yet utterly beautiful, the 2020 Teroldego Granato lifts from the glass with an infectiously spicy bouquet, at times autumnal, savory at others, mixed with depths of dark red fruits. This floods the palate with a wave of intense raspberry and wild berries, quickly saturating yet with a hint of sour citrus that provides a lovely balance. A pretty inner sweetness is left to linger, as this finishes structured and remarkably long with a refreshing air of inner rose and wild strawberry that carries on. This is powerful, yet elegant as well, and perfectly balanced for a long evolution." Eric Guido, Vinous
