| Salon Le Mesnil Blanc de Blancs Brut 2002, 0.75L, 100 Points"The 35th and most recent vintage of Salon since the house was founded in 1905 is memorable and magnificent. Made only from Chardonnay grown in the Grand Cru village of Les Mesnil-sur-Oger, it combines intense minerality, a crisp textured core and the beginnings of maturity. The depths of this wine, with its layers of fruit and steeliness, are superb. Even after 12 years, it still needs to age further. Drink from 2018. Cellar Selections." 100 Points Wine Enthusiast |
| | Egly-Ouriet Brut Millésime 2005, 0.75L
From the compelling 2005 vintage, this masterpiece gets our vote for the perfect Champagne for that special holiday meal or get together. Made from Pinot Noir (70%) and Chardonnay (30%), the wine is sourced from Grand Cru vineyards exclusively in Ambonnay. The wine is fermented on indigenous yeasts partially in French oak barrels and partially in tank. The secondary fermentation takes place in bottle (méthode Champenoise) and the wine is aged for at least eight years in bottle. The dosage is minimal – less than 2 grams/L. The resultant Champagne is bottled unfined and unfiltered. A connoisseur’s choice!

Josh Rayolds (Vinous) recently denoted high praise to this outstanding gem with an accompanying 93 point score noting, “Light, vivid orange. Aromas of cranberry, raspberry, rhubarb and jasmine, with a toasty overtone. Dry, focused and pure, offering intense red fruit and orange zest flavors underscored by chalky minerality. Blends power and vivacity deftly, finishing with excellent thrust and lingering floral and mineral qualities.” Antonio Galloni (93 points) also opined positively, “The NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is made from vineyards in Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzy. This is another totally convincing wine from Egly-Ouriet, not to mention one of the strongest wines in the line-up. The Rosé Grand Cru captivates for its gorgeous, fragrant fruit and silky, refined finish. It is a jewel of a wine.”

| | Egly-Ouriet Les Vignes de Vrigny Premier Cru Brut NV, 0.75L, 93 Points
This unusual cuvée is made (100%) from Pinot Meunier. Hand harvested, it’s a bit of a cult wine in that Meunier is most often used as a blending grape in Champagne. As there are very few 100% renditions made, this is more than appropriate given winemaker Francis Egly’s cult status amongst Champagne aficionados. The cuvée is quite dry with a dosage of less than 2 grams/L.
Josh Raynolds (Vinous) recently awarded this connoisseur’s production with 93 points noting, “Bright yellow-gold. Smoky, deeply pitched aromas of poached pear, chamomile, honey and truffle, with spice and mineral notes gaining strength in the glass. Offers an array of ripe orchard fruit and spice flavors lifted by gentle acidity. Rich but lively, finishing with excellent clarity and lingering smokiness."

| | Egly-Ouriet Tradition Grand Cru Brut NV, 0.75L, 93 Points
Baby Krug” is how we would describe this luxurious cuvée! Creamy richness and ultra-refined complexity courses throughout this sumptuous Champagne. Upon imbibing, one is immediately impressed with the wine’s high-wire balancing act of both power and finesse. Based in Ambonnay, Verzenay and Bouzy, Egly’s practice of harvesting very ripe grapes and ageing in barrel extensively set these artistic wines apart. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, the estate is in the process of complete conversion to organic viticulture. For the record, the wine recently received a 93 point score from Antonio Galloni (Vinous).

| | Jean Vesselle Œil de Perdrix Brut NV, 0.75L, 93 Points
This very special cuvée represents the best of what the village of Bouzy can offer to bubbles. Made (100%) from Pinot Noir, the hand-harvested grapes are macerated for color then pressed and fermented on indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The Vesselle family’s collection of Grand Cru vineyards and generations of leadership in championing Pinot Noir are what makes wines from this estate such eloquent examples of Blanc de Noirs Champagne. For nearly 300 years, the Vesselle family has been tilling the chalky soils of Bouzy and cultivating some of the village’s best Pinot Noir based wines. Their Champagnes combine elegance with the signature Bouzy power, especially in wines such as their renowned “Oeil de Perdrix” which, for the record, recently received a 93 point score from Antonio Galloni (Vinous). Our notes reference refined and elegant bubbles of true breed and finesse! Staff Fave and Highly Recommended!

| | Jean Vesselle Réserve Brut NV, 0.75L
Our most recent encounter with this perennial fave was most positive! Our notes reference a wonderfully harmonious Champagne which delivers artisanal quality at a very reasonable price. Blending Pinot Noir (80%) with Chardonnay (20%), the Champagne’s “Pinot Predominance” is quite evident with its enticing display of red fruit effervescence. All of the fruit for this lovely wine is hand-harvested. The juice is fermented on indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. Secondary fermentation is in bottle (méthode Champenoise) while aged for three years before release. The wine receives a very light dosage. In short, a high-quality production at a reasonable price. Perfect for holiday parties and gatherings. Staff Fave and Highly Recommended!
