| “This is one of the great years....We have not seen a vintage like this for a long time. It has the character of the 1959 but with a touch of the 1947." - Pierre Lawton |

| | "I think it could turn out to be an all-time great, similar to 2010, 2009 and 1989 or even such classics as 1982 or 1959....I ran a spreadsheet comparing wines I rated 90 points or more and the 2018 came out ahead of 2016 and 2015." - James Suckling |
| | | | | WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF BUYING BORDEAUX EN PRIMEUR? |
| Bordeaux's history of selling futures dates to at least the 17th century. Buying the new Bordeaux vintage as a future allows you to lock in the lowest available pricing before the wines reach the wider market. Acquiring wines by this method also allows you to secure wine with the best possible provenance: once bottled, these pristine, just-released wines are shipped directly from Bordeaux to our warehouse.
The Spectrum Wine team has tasted hundreds of Bordeaux 2018s in-barrel and are available to you to provide guidance and recommendations. |
| | "In 2018 I made the best wine of my life." - Olivier Bernard |
| "June, July, August and September were all considerably warmer in 2018 than the average. It’s fairly common, once the grapes have flowered in late May or June and are forming at the start of the summer, to have two successive months of fine weather. But three is unusual....The harvest took place in almost ideal conditions, with no risk of rot. It stretched from around 21 August for the first of the dry whites, well into October for Sauternes and the later ripening Cabernets. The busiest period for harvesting the reds was during the second half of September and the first week of October. The continued drought had an impact on the volume, as the berries were thick-skinned and in no way diluted by any harvest rain. The quality, though, was extremely high. And that’s what really matters." - Gavin Quinney
