In addition to their estate vineyard, in Lowden, west of Walla Walla (the driest location in that AVA), first planted in 1977, Woodward Canyon sources from a who’s-who of established sites across south-central and eastern Washington, and he is one of several winemaker-partners in Champoux Vineyard."

| | “Rick Small now has 45 acres of vineyards around his winery located in Lowden, about 12 miles west of the town of Walla Walla. ‘We're moving higher and also north-facing,’ he told me this summer, adding that his vineyards, which benefit from a very old basalt flow, are the farthest west and the lowest in the Walla Walla appellation .... Incidentally, Woodward Canyon is also the second largest owner of vines in Champoux; only Quilceda Creek has more."

| ‣ "Truly a benchmark for Washington State Cabernet, the 28th edition of the Artist Series from Woodward Canyon checks in at 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Petit Verdot and spends 22 months in 54% new French oak and 14% in new Hungarian oak barrels. It offers outstanding notes of freshly picked blackberry, blue plum, spruce forest, graphite, tobacco leaf, and cedary herbs. Mouthwatering acidity, a medium to full body, round sweet tannins, and a lengthy fruit and spice driven finish complete the wine."
