Antonio Galloni, Vinous on Brovia "The Brovia Barolos remain very much classic, structured wines that capture the essence of some of the best sites in the region. In warmer vintages, the wines can drink well early, but history has shown these Barolos enter the sweet spot around age 10-15. Rocche is the most open of the four vineyard designates in its youth, so it is the perfect Barolo with which to explore the house style. Brovia remains one of the Piedmont’s great historic families. Quality has never been higher and prices remain exceedingly fair considering the quality of what goes into the bottle."

In 1863, before the unification of Italy, Fratelli Brovia was founded and since then has been one of the greatest wine growing families in all of Piemonte. The Brovia Baroli are produced classically, aging in large Slavonian oak Botti with long macerations in concerete tank, but have a finesse and polish that is only achieved through extreme precision and care in both the vineyard and the winery. Over the years, Brovia has been able to acquire land in many of the greatest Crus of Barolo, including Rocche di Castiglione, Brea Ca’Mia, and Garblèt Sué.
Rocche di Castiglione is without a doubt one of the most outstanding vineyard sites in all of Barolo. Rocche is South/South-East facing and has quite a bit more sand than most of the crus in Castiglione Falletto. Brovia's Rocche consistently has taut structure with exuberant florals and intoxicating perfume.
The Brea Ca’Mia is produced from the family's oldest vines (planted in 1955) and the only holding in Serralunga d’Alba. The Ca’Mia is at a significant altitude (1,150 ft) and is on largely calcareous soils. The wines from this vineyard tend to be the more intense, lush and structured, and are some of the most cellar worthy of the wines made by Fratelli Brovia.
Garblèt Sué is also known as Altenasso, which is on the Bricco Fiasco in Castiglione Falleto. This vineyard has soils of sand and clay-limestone marl which produces this generous and plush Nebbiolo which tends to be the most accessible of the Crus.
