| "A textbook Tempranillo, the 2015 Pago Negralada has varietal aromas, red fruit, licorice, and spices, and a classical, velvety, and elegant texture with focused and clean flavors, great harmony, and a tasty, long finish. This is like an upgraded version of the Selección Especial. It's a good representation of the zone through its gentle tannins that kind of hide the natural power. It very faithfully represents the conditions of the year, the place and the variety. A true, honest Tempranillo. Bravo. There were 37 barriques of this, which filled 10,200 bottles and some large formats. Like all of the 2015s, it was bottled in May 2017. 2015 was a warm year, but the end of the summer was milder, which is what made the difference with the majority of warm vintages, and the wines are nicely balanced ....
In 2022, they obtained their single-vineyard appellation, Denominación de Origen Protegida Abadía Retuerta, that can be retroactive to previous vintages."

| | “Abadía Retuerta is a highly respected winery in Spain and abroad. Since it was founded in 1996 just outside the western boundary of the Ribera del Duero region, the winery has bet on the highest standards and has been rewarded by wines considered among the region’s best. From the beginning, Abadía Retuerta has been obsessed by trying to understand their own terroir. For the last 25 years, various studies and investigations have been carried out at the winery. They have focused on finding the most suitable grapes capable of retaining acidity. They have also worked on observing the behaviour of specific grape varieties in different soils, as well as variations in vinification such as stem retention, sulphite additions, different extraction protocols and so on. The work has been silent, serious, and deep. Angel Anocibar, the winery’s well-regarded winemaker, has a passionate spirit and deep knowledge that is reflected in these wines.”
