Literally, Orma sit between Sassicaia, to the north, and Ornellaia, to the south. Orma’s proprietor, Antonio Moretti, is better known for the wines he makes at his Tenuta Sette Ponti, but Orma has come on very strong and I’m certain will be regarded as one of the top Super Tuscans in the immediate future. One of my favorite Super Tuscans due to the price-to-quality ratio, Orma is a wine you can age, or enjoy now. ‘Passi di Orma’ is the entry level offering from this great estate, offering a sneak peek to what the big brother will be like a few years down the road. This is a great value at $29!

| | | “A blend of 40% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc Passi di Orma is a ruby red color with violet hues in the glass. The nose reveals juicy red fruits with hints of roasted coffee and liquorice. On the palate, it is expansive yet precise, with refined tannins leading to a savory, elegant finish.”
