| | For the past three decades, the 'Signature' Cabernet Sauvignon has been the flagship of Chappellet. Most of the fruit hails from the famed Pritchard Hill, on vines growing upon the rocky hillside and produce small, intensely concentrated grapes. The crop is thinned in efforts to promote full, even ripening. The wine is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as small amounts of Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot.
“Aromatically the wine jumps from the glass with notes of ripe black cherries, cassis, fine dark chocolate, as well as oak-influenced espresso, cinnamon, and clove. On the palate, the wine is full of ripe dark berries, and black currants, with spicey lingering flavors of nutmeg, anise, and smoked cedar.” – winery notes |
| | | ‣“It is a marvelously compact and coiled-up wine with a towering structure. Very beautifully fragrant dried purple flowers and herbs. Full-bodied with loads of succulent ripe blackberry, creme de cassis, graphite, and loamy earth. Very firm, tight-grained tannins form the base note of this wine, and the finish is long and rich in wild herbs and spices. Cellar worthy. It will release internationally in September 2024. It is rounded out with 6% Merlot.” 96
