| “Rita and Clemens Busch have long been establishing this organic Domaine among the finest Riesling producers in all of Germany. The recent three vintages are full of highlights again, namely among the dry wines which are all sourced from old vines in different sections of the Pündericher Marienburg with its many different parts, expositions, altitudes, and soil colors.
The wines are authentic, expressive, and have an inimitable identity that represents the particular origin of which the terraced parts with the often ungrafted vines can give unforgettable drinking experience (Fahrlay Terrassen, Felsterrasse, Raffes). These are not wines to enjoy quickly or even thoughtlessly. I'd rather recommend to drink them slowly, not too cool, and with all the time they need and you are ready to give them. | | | | ‣ “The 2020 Marienburg Raffes is pure, very intense and fresh on the crystalline nose, with popcorn, mocha and crushed slate aromas. Silky, lush and generous on the palate, this is a full-bodied, dense, intense and refined yet crystalline and saline, firmly structured and very sustainable Raffes with fine tannins and a long and promising finish. This is a highly complex dry Riesling that is not as soft or as feminine as the Felsterrasse but behaves like the Hermannshöhle to the Dellchen. | | | "Rita Buss and Clemens Busch have farmed their vines in Pünderich (some still count this as Terassenmosel, but Zell is officially the beginning of the Terrassenmosel) organically since 1985, which makes them absolute pioneers. The Buschs trialed Biodynamic methods until they achieved certification in 2007. Their son Johannes Busch joined them several years ago. Most of their 16 hectares are in the Marienburg vineyard, across the river from their house. This site is long and heterogenous with changing slates, from blue slate (Fahrlay) to grey slate (Falkenlay) to red slate (Rothenpfad) over the course of 700 meters. Busch recultivated parts of the latter after it had lain fallow for years. All the wines ferment spontaneously in Fuder and spend up to a year on their gross lees. The wines are exquisite, and each of the various Marienburg parcels is different: they shimmer aromatically, are alluring and profound, intense yet streamlined. Truly one of the Mosel’s best."
