Subject: Women's Self Defence Seminar: Glastonbury

WOMEN'S SELF DEFENCE SEMINAR: GLASTONBURY. 3rd December 2016. 10am - 4pm
This Self defence day for Women and teen girls (15/16+), will focus on how to be safe in your environment and how to physically defend yourself against a male attacker.

If you want to feel safer and more relaxed in your everyday life, then this one day self-defence seminar will give you skills to increase your confidence, both emotionally and physically.
This seminar is taught with Robert's wife Rachel, who is an experienced therapist and is able to facilitate any emotional reaction that can arise during training. They are both passionate about helping people to have the necessary skills to protect themselves. The physical techniques are both simple and effective and do not require many hours of training to make them work. We mix the training with role play and discussion about the feelings that can come from the fear of being attacked or actual confrontation.

  • We begin by talking about the anxieties and fears women feel when outside and how to avoid possible situations.
  • We speak about the danger Awareness colour codes, While Yellow, Orange, Red and run an exercise to learn them.
  • Students start to train their voice as a weapon.
  • We then teach physical techniques for attacking a male in their most vulnerable areas. This is practiced via large pads held by the instructor.
  • We then practice the defending against the most common attacks from a male to a female.
  • We build up the intensity as we finish the day with adrenalised training situation. This helps the students to get a feel of their power and effectiveness. This is ran by Robert in full safely equipment.
We finish the day with a talk about what to do after an incident, should this occur and take questions.
You Don't Need To Be Fit or Experienced

The skills are simple to learn and apply. That's what makes it effective. As such you don't need to have martial arts experience or to be very physically fit to take part. Throughout the training there are breaks from practice to rest and to discuss the psychological and legal side of self defence.
