In 2019 Governor Wolf declared Juneteenth a State holiday. In 2020 and 2021, the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County made Juneteenth a holiday and became the first and ONLY County and City in Pennsylvania to make Juneteenth a legislative holiday.
We want to invite you to the in-person WPA Juneteenth Press Conference on Wednesday, May 12th, starting at 9 am, at Pittsburgh City Hall Chambers to announce the 8th Annual WPA Juneteenth Celebration and Pittsburgh’s Black Music Fest, that start:

1. Saturday, June 12th with Our Juneteenth Kickoff fest at Chartiers Park (West End), 11 am to 9 pm;
2. June 18 thru June 20, with Our Juneteenth Youth Sports Fest at Mellon Park, 9 am to 4 pm Daily;
3. June 18 thru June 20, Pittsburgh-Allegheny Co. Juneteenth Freedom Days Celebration at Point State Park, 11 am to 9 pm Daily;
4. Black Voting Rights, Juneteenth-Jubilee Re-enactment Parade on Saturday, June 26th in Downtown Pittsburgh, 10 am to 1 pm; and,
5. June 21 thru June 27, Pittsburgh Black Music Fest at Point State Park, 11 am to 9 pm Daily.

Special Events:
(i) On-site Juneteenth COVID Vaccination Programs, June 18 through June 20, with UPMC, Gateway Health & ANH.
(ii) Juneteenth-Minority Vendors Economic Impact Plaza on Penn and Liberty avenues between Stanwix street and Commonwealth Place, June 18-20 and June 24-27.
(iii) Healthy-heart Dance contest and attempt to set the Guinness Book of World Record for the longest Soul Train Line Dance with New Cupid of national Cupid Shuffle fame on Sunday, June 20. And,
(iv) 7th Annual Black Tie Honors Gala, Saturday, June 5th, 6p to 10p, at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh, hosted by Celebrity Actor and Pittsburgh naive, Lamman Rucker (Juneteenth Fundraiser).
All Festival activities will include in-person events and live-streaming formats. CDC and PA. Dept. of Health COVID Protocols and Guidelines will be enforced, mask required, with Temp monitoring.
