What is Piri-Piri Chicken?

Piri-piri chicken is a spicy dish with roots in both Africa and Portugal. The dish was created in Angola and Mozambique when Portuguese settlers arrived with chile peppers (known as piri-piri, or “pepper-pepper,” in Swahili).

Order a little or A LOT of our mild or spicy chicken—made freshly for you—Portuguese-style (featuring various medium-heat chilis like cayenne, serrano or tabasco peppers) or Mozambican-style (boasting fiery-red African bird’s eye chilis, which rank 175,000 heat units on the Scoville heat scale, or roughly the same heat as a habanero).
