#SoulBlast - POISE Foundation | #GiveBackGive Black: Fireside Chat with Author Betty Kilby Fisher Baldwin on April 8 at 7 PM

On April 8, POISE Foundation will kick off
our year-long activities with a Fireside Chat featuring
Author Betty Kilby Fisher Baldwin.

--------------

We are hosting an intimate conversation with Dr. Betty Kilby Fisher Baldwinthe infant plaintiff in a landmark school integration case and author of the book Wit, Will and Walls. Dr. Baldwin was only nine years old when the Supreme Court handed down its landmark Brown versus Board of Education decision, declaring segregation in schools illegal. Four years later, in 1958, her father and the NAACP filed a lawsuit against her school district in Warren County, Virginia. Since Dr. Baldwin was named in the case, her name became synonymous with the civil rights movement.

--------------

The program also includes a tribute to the foundation’s 40 years of philanthropy in the Black community. Hear from POISE Foundation Board of Trustees Chair Greg Spencer and POISE Foundation President & CEO Mark Lewis.

--------------

We’ll also celebrate this major milestone with entertainment! Jazz Trumpeter Marcus Hicks and Penn State Professor and Spoken Word Artist Johnathan White will help us commemorate the first in a series of virtual events.
