In 1870, Religious Leaders, Community Advocates, Social Groups, Politicians and Abolitionist organized the "Grand Jubilee of Freemen Parade" celebrating passage of the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments. These groups marched through Downtown Pittsburgh, the Lower Hill District and to Allegheny City to highlight the unity of mankind, freedom and equality for all people.
On April 28th, 1870, It was reported that some 5,000 people (Blacks, Whites and Natives) attended and marched in this event.
We want to invite you and your organizations to participate in the 2024 Juneteenth Parade on Saturday Juneteenth 15th, lining up at Freedom Corner (Hill District) to march through Downtown Pittsburgh (20min down hill walk).
Our Grand Marshal for the Day will be retired- Col. James H. Harvey, "Top-Gun" Tuskegee Airman and Korean War Hero and Hip Hop icon Percy 'MASTER P' Miller.
Our Juneteenth Parade is now THE LAST African American lead parade in the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.
