Ready to end the summer with hands-on science? Join us for a day of FREE family fun at Pittsburgh’s most-visited museum. Duquesne Light Co. Community Day at Carnegie Science Center happens on Sun., Aug. 7, and features free General Admission for all visitors.
Explore four floors of hands-on exhibits, plus Highmark SportsWorks®, the Miniature Railroad & Village®, the USS Requin (SS 481) Cold War-era submarine, and newly renovated Buhl Planetarium. All these exhibits are free for the day, powered by Duquesne Light Company. Tours of the Milky Way and beyond in Buhl Planetarium*, are designed for every age group.
Rock out and learn all about the science of sound in GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked The World, presented by Green Mountain Energy and displayed in PPG SCIENCE PAVILION™. See 70+ unique and historic guitars, play with 15+ musical interactives, and strum the world’s largest playable guitar!
Highmark SportsWorks® offers sports-related interactive exhibits. Challenge your speed with that of an Olympic sprinter, become a human yo-yo, play virtual sports using green-screen technology, and test your reaction speed against an ice hockey goalie, among other activities.
There are more than 200 hands-on exhibits at Carnegie Science Center that captivate and excite visitors of all ages. From water activities to rocket launches, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Aspiring scientists age 6 and under will love The Little Learner Clubhouse, powered by PNC Grow Up Great®, a nature-inspired hub with a water table, tomato stand, button wall, and more.
