‘RETHIINK SOCIAL JUSTICE’
‘BEYOND THE MOUNTAINTOP’
Wednesday, April 4, 2018 Duquesne University Student Union Ballroom
April 4, 2018, will mark the 50th anniversary of the day Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in pursuit of a just, equal, and equitable America. So much has happened since 1968, and yet, we have so much further to go.
In honor of Dr. King, whose legacy was founded in advocating for unity and empowerment, we are hosting an event designed to refocus all of our efforts and to celebrate the glory of how diverse our contributions to change truly are.
Throughout the day, we will highlight the scope of some of the many efforts in Pittsburgh and beyond, and learn ways in which we can support one another, along with new strategies, and create forward-focused action plans. Most importantly, we will center how we can best get out of the way of our youth, our marginalized, our Black and brown, our disabled, our lgbtqia+, and every intersection in between.
Our 2018 goal is to become a more inclusive, supportive, and co-conspiring system of communities to fight the existing system of oppression. Young adults (19 and under) May arrive at 8:30am as our youth will be there to commune with each other. This is a free event with breakfast and lunch provided, but please register so we can guarantee your spot.
Thank you all for your genuine dedication to the betterment of society.
