The Brown Mama Monologues is a full-scale, storytelling production that showcases the unique, original stories of Black mothers with the purpose of diversifying the American motherhood narrative to be more inclusive of the experiences of Black mothers. ------------------------------
Each year moms bless our stage with stories on everything from breastfeeding and birthing to parenting incarcerated and overcoming mom-guilt. We tackle these tough subjects and celebrate their parenting wins like blending a family or having your first child. -----------------------------
In 2022, we will showcase the stories of 6 Brown Mamas from the Pittsburgh region. Erica Day, Ngozi Tibbs, Shayla Berry-Dixon, Cheyanne Bronzell and Alana Griffin. ------------------------------
In addition to these phenomenal stories, the showcase includes awards and a live band, Dennis Garner T. & Tempo Noir. ------------------------------
This year we are honoring the first African-American First Lady of Pittsburgh, Michelle Gainey with our PAAM (Pioneering African-American Mother) Award and Ola Jackson, owner of the ONYX Women’s Network with our Style & Grace in the Community Award.
------------------------------
------------------------------
We will host the virtual showcase on Wednesday, June 8th from 7pm - 9pm.
Join us as 6 moms take the stage to share their lived experiences on everything from blending a family to Black love and teenage parenting. Join us for a night of laughter, tears and triumph as we experience the Brown Mama Monologues.
