Pitt Announces Lineup for 
49th Annual Jazz Seminar and Concert

International jazz greats will convene at the University of Pittsburgh Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 for the 49th Annual Pitt Jazz Seminar and Concert, the first organized by new Jazz Studies Program Director Nicole Mitchell. “I’m excited for the seminar and concert to offer Pittsburgh audiences a historical meeting of top-flight musicians that represent diverse expressions of creativity,” said Mitchell, the award-winning flutist, composer and educator who joined Pitt this year.

For the first time, the seminar will feature two public concerts—a solo performance by vocalist and pianist Amina Claudine Myers on Friday, Nov. 1, at Bellefield Hall Auditorium, followed by the larger traditional concert Saturday, Nov. 2 at Carnegie Music Hall. Pitt Jazz Week will also feature performances by Pitt jazz students, free on-campus artist seminars, two community appearances and a panel discussion.
