The Piano Lesson is the fourth play written and produced by August Wilson. It brought the Pittsburgh native his second Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1990. Part of his ten part Pittsburgh Cycle, this story also won the 1990 Circle Award for Best Play from the New York Drama Critics.

Set in 1936, The Piano Lesson deals with family conflict, the remnant legacy of slavery with an incorporation of the supernatural and spirituality.

Directed by distinguished director Mark Clayton Southers and his Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre, this is a production that should not be missed.
