Roland Ford, a native Pittsburgher known as the Dancing DJ, will lead hundreds of people to the D&R Hustle and Michelle Obama’s “Uptown Funk” dance this Saturday, June 20^th for the Big City Line Dance at the Pittsburgh JazzLive Festival.

For the past month rehearsals have been taking place all over the city so participants could learn the dances in advance. One final rehearsal will take place this Friday, June 19^th at 7pm, following “Dancing in the Square” in Market Square.  Instructional videos were also made for people who could not attend the rehearsals but wanted to come prepared for the big performance.

The Big City Line Dance will bring together men, women and children of all different backgrounds and abilities. For those who don’t learn the dances in advance, Roland Ford will be there on site to instruct participants and get everyone involved. Last year, nearly 1000 people preformed during the JazzLive Festival and even more are expected to come out and dance this year!

“I am very excited to lead the second annual Big City Line Dance again this year,” Dancing DJ Roland Ford explained. “It’s a great way to get people out and get them moving. Everyone from little kids to adults have a great time performing these dances and doing something fun with their community.”

The Big City Line Dance is a project of the “Take a Healthy Step” Initiative of the Dignity & Respect Campaign. This Initiative promotes learning about your health, doing something for your health, then encouraging family and friends to join you.
