This Soul Blast Features: { non-profits } CORO LATINOAMERICANO
The Coro Latinoamericano – Pittsburgh, founded in 1997, is dedicated to building bridges to other peoples and cultures in Pittsburgh and beyond through choral music from the countries of Central and South America, the Caribbean, and the Iberian Peninsula. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Coro Latinoamericano – Pittsburgh is committed to educational outreach and the cultural enrichment of the Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania region, and beyond.
Our current Music Director, Dr. Meredith Malone Armbrust, has been leading Coro Latinoamericano – Pittsburgh since 2011. Approximately one half of our membership (coristas) are immigrants from Latin America. Most of the rest, and even the current Music Director, are U.S. nationals interested in Latin American languages, music, cultures, and traditions. All coristas are Pittsburghers committed to "uniting the Americas."
Coro Latinoamericano, like all other non-profit cultural organizations, relies on grants, and the financial support of its members and friends to sustain it. It is a dues collecting organization. Visit their site at www.elcorolatino.com
