The 27th Annual African American Heritage Day Parade will kick off promptly at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014.
The 2014 Parade will follow a Downtown route – beginning at the intersection of 11th Avenue and Liberty Avenue at 11:00 a.m., following Liberty Avenue and concluding at the Highmark Building at Fifth Avenue Place. A series of related activities will be held immediately following the parade, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Post-parade events and activities will be held at PNC Legacy (600 Liberty Ave.), the Cultural Trust Peirce Studio (805 – 807 Liberty Ave.) and the Highmark Building (Fifth Ave. Place).
Sala Udin, one of the original Freedom Riders,
will serve as Grand Marshal of the parade.
Local organizations, community groups, marching bands, youth clubs or other organizations interested in marching in the parade are encouraged to contact the Parade Association at 412-392-0322 for more information.
