The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust invites you to spend a night of musical celebration at Rhythm & Groove. This electrifying event will take place on Saturday, April 30, from 8-11PM at the August Wilson Center located at 980 Liberty Avenue in Down-town’s exploding Cultural District.
In celebration of International Jazz Day and the Pittsburgh JazzLive International Jazz Festival, guests are invited to explore the August Wilson Center’s one-night makeover into a musical urban street way filled with jazz, blues, salsa, disco, funk, fine spirit tastings and signature appetizers.
Rhythm & Groove will commemorate the ambiance and sounds of four of the most fondly remembered nightclubs to ever decorate Pittsburgh’s streets including the renowned jazz club, The Crawford Grill, The Savoy Ballroom; the vibrant Shadyside musical center, The Balcony; and the disco hotspot, 2001.
Superb bourbon tasting flights by RAISE YOUR SPIRITS, decadent bites from some of Pittsburgh’s best restaurants, and flawless talent serve as the heart and soul of this exciting musical evening. Featured artists such as nationally recognized jazz entertainer Michael Mwenso & the Harlem Shakes featuring Brianna Thomas, leading salsa orchestra Noel Quintana & the Latin Crew, funk outfit, Lyndsey Smith and Soul Distribution, Dwayne Dolphin’s tribute to the Balcony Big Band, DJ Soy Sos and DJ SMI will make this a night of non-stop exhilaration as guests navigate their way from one musical genre to the next with just a few smooth steps.
