OPTICVOICES An interactive photography exhibit unlike any you've ever seen!
September 23, 2016, at 5:30 pm at The August Wilson Center
Emmai's Alaquiva's first ever curated photography exhibit entitled 'Optic Voices'. This interactive photography exhibit highlighting the struggles of the Black Lives Matter Movement in Pittsburgh. This interactive photography exhibit goes above and beyond to create the conversation of how we create an equitable social and cultural Pittsburgh.
"We, at the Trust, firmly believe in the power of art as a catalyst for social change and hope that the community engages in a meaningful, honest exchange of ideas and dialouge around the Optic Voices exhibit", says Janis Burley-Wilson, Vice-President, Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement/Jazz Programs at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
Join us for this momentual occasion as we begin the dialouges that breach the barriers of class, race, gender, and social identity. 'Optic Voices' presents different mediums for people to engage in conversation on topics ranging from Black Lives Matter, oppression, racism, homophobia and xenophobia to the support and success of young black males.
The exhibit opens on September 23, 2016, at 5:30 pm at The August Wilson Center in part with the Cultural Trust's Gallery Crawl, and will remain open until December.
