The Christmas Spirit will be alive on Pittsburgh’s East End as Eastminster Presbyterian Church hosts its 10th anniversary community Light Up Night Christmas Festival on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 6:00-9:00 P.M, at the church, located at 250 North Highland Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
All are welcome to this free evening of Christmas family fun for all ages! Outside festivities include horse-drawn carriage rides, a live nativity complete with sheep, camels, cow and donkey and the courtyard ablaze with kettle corn, walking tacos, cookies, and new this year, those warm tasty donuts from Peace, Love & Little Donuts. Inside, the fiery sounds of the Howard University Gospel Choir from Washington, DC will ignite the stage, along with Friendship Community Church’s Total Praise Mime Ministry and Eastminster's own Praise Team.
About Howard University Gospel Choir Founded in the fall of 1968 by Melanie Russell (Lee) and Rosalind Thompkins (Lynch), the HOWARD GOSPEL CHOIR (HGC) is the first collegiate choir of its kind in the world. As a result, HGC has pioneered an international legacy in gospel music ministry. The choir boasts an active roster of seventy-plus persons that consists of students and alumni from Howard University, as well as others from the surrounding community. In addition to distinguished professionals in every imaginable discipline, past members of this award-winning ensemble include Grammy Award© winners Richard Smallwood, Coré Cotton (member of Sounds of Blackness), and Elbernita “Twinkie” Clark of the legendary Clark Sisters, as well as R&B star Ángela Winbush.
