Every Friday night from 9pm-2am the Round Corner Cantina, located at 3720 Butler Street in Lawrenceville, hosts Gold Series, a DJ night highlighting the Golden Era of Hip-Hop, Soul, Funk & Jazz. A $5-10 cover begins at 10pm, and there is a $5 champagne special all night. Each week features local resident DJ Bamboo and headlining guests. In August, Gold Series is hosting some major hip-hop legends including:
Big Phil -The party continues with Big Phil who will perform at the Gold Series event on 8/15/2014. He is a local DJ who has made a splash on the Pittsburgh Hip-Hop scene as a producer and a free agent. He manages a site called 33 and A Third Media that debuts all of his audio and video work. Big Phil has an excellent read on the audience and always packs the dance floor.

 House Shoes – Detroit Hip-Hop’s Ambassador to the World, Michael “House Shoes” Buchanan will be playing at the Gold Series on 8/22/2014. From 1994 – 2004 he was a resident DJ at the hip-hop staple St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. He has had personal
influence over a full generation of well-respected emcees, producers, and DJs to come out of Detroit and is a four-time winner of the city’s “Best Hip Hop DJ” award. Most recently he produced “Nosebleeds” on Danny Brown’s XXX and has toured with performers like Guilty Simpson, Illa J, Exile, and Aloe Blacc. Shoes’ constant DJing at events and parties across the globe has distinguished him as a world-class producer and DJ.

 Vikter Duplaix – Wrapping up the Gold Series events for the month of August will be Grammy nominated Vikter Duplaix on 8/29/2014. Vikter Duplais is a music transformer interlacing global culture, independent thought, fine arts, and progressive music in to a golden way of life. His raw DJ skills were perfected on the streets of Philly along with the Turntable Legends Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money. His DJ sets have taken him across the globe from United States to Europe, Asia, South America and to the stage of 2012’s 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards where he was the first ever DJ to perform on-stage as a member of the house band.

 Stretch Armstrong - Performed at Round Corner Cantina’s Gold Series on 8/8/14. Stretch Armstrong is a New York-based DJ/Producer with an international reputation that all began in legendary downtown clubs like Mars, Nell’s, and MK. He earned a status early on as an exciting newcomer not afraid to take chances and be original. He gained a popular following playing the latest hip-hop, reggae, and house music, packing dance floors with a smooth, aggressive mix and has worked with the likes of Lil Kim, Jay-Z, Capone-N-Noreaga, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Amel Larriuex.
