At the age of 23, Congressman John Lewis was an architect of and a keynote speaker at the historic March on Washington on August 28, 1963; the same day Dr. Martin Luther King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech. He is the only living speaker from that historic day in American history.
Join Sweetwater, in collaboration with the The ToonSeum, for this intimate evening with Congressman Lewis, along with his co-writer Andrew Aydin and illustrator, Nate Powell, of March, the New York Times bestselling trilogy of graphic novels. They will be discussing Congressman Lewis’ role as a leader of the Civil Rights Movement and how they transformed his story onto this powerful graphic novel series. This ticketed event opens with a cocktail reception with live music by Jemiriye Adeniji and will feature a book signing and lecture by the authors. Admission includes one book from the series. This event is a part of Sewickley Academy’s Sewickley Series.
