| Dear Friend,
This year, due to COVID-19, we’ve all faced increased isolation, decreased support, and financial and emotional burdens. And those battling addiction are some of the hardest hit. Nonprofit organizations like SMART Recovery have been hit hard, too. Local COVID restrictions created an emergency need for a massive increase in online meetings. Our costs skyrocketed due to: - Expense of acquiring hundreds of Zoom licenses to move face-to-face meetings online
- Expense of Zoom training hundreds of facilitators
- Expense of operating in a remote environment
We’re here to ask for your help during this crucial time. SMART Recovery, as one recovery pathway, leads to a healthier and more positive life. For individuals who are facing greater needs during this pandemic, it can be a vital lifeline. |
| Consider the story of Nick Goodwin. Nick is a 31-year-old US Marine veteran who returned home from service and began depending on alcohol to help him cope with increased societal pressure and family issues. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nick was isolated and in need of support, but unable to attend face-to-face recovery meetings. Fortunately, Nick's local Veterans Affairs Recovery Center pointed him to SMART, and he found the kind of help that was right for him. Nick dove into SMART’s online meetings and resources, and now he is living a Life Beyond Addiction. Your gift will help others live unburdened by addiction. Donations will have an immediate impact on individuals, families, and friends who are embarking upon or are continuing their chosen path of recovery.
