| | | Dear
friends,
It's
now just a few short weeks until our Showcase Classic & Sports
Car Gala at Cowdray House on 7th May. Full directions and
instructions will be sent to you over the coming weeks.
We
are delighted with the wide range of cars that have booked onto the
event so far, including marques such as Alvis, Sunbeam, Jensen,
Morgan, Triumph, Jaguar, Austin Healey, Lotus, Daimler.......and of
course many many MGs, with some dating back to the 1930s.
|
| A
great day out
There
will be plenty to see and do throughout the day, with “jazz on the
lawn” in the morning, and a lovely vocal harmony group in the
afternoon, filling the showground with vintage sounds from the 1940s.
A
big brass band will take centre stage on the cricket ground in the
afternoon, and the entertainment continues after prize giving with
the 1970s inspired multi award winning Fred's House band to close the
event.
|
| Delicious
food
We
know that many of you are travelling some distance to be with us in
the morning, so on your arrival cooked breakfasts will be
available, tastefully served from a lovely little shepherd's hut.
Later
in the day you may fancy one of the delicious Afternoon Teas being
served from vintage vans, and of course there will also
be plenty of choice for lunch .....roast lamb, venison, and caribbean
chicken are all on the menu, and all at affordable prices too.
|
| Meet
a celebrity
Those
of you taking part in the “Showcase Run” across the South Downs
in the morning will be greeted on your return to Cowdray by our
special guest, double Olympic gold medallist Joanna Rowsell Shand
MBE, who is really looking forward to meeting you all, and showing
off her Olympic medals.
You
might have seen Joanna on BBC2 this week, doing a spot of sports
commentary with Sir Chris Hoy and Clare Balding. |

|
A
day for making memories
The
day will present plenty of great photo opportunities, so if you'd
like a photo of you and your car with Joanna or maybe some of the
musicians, just ask on the day, and we'll do our best to facilitate.
In
addition to all the lovely cars to admire, there will also be some
great vintage stalls to browse, and some really fun games stalls too. So, a little bit of something for everyone.
Joanna
will also be awarding the trophies for the best cars (competition
classes to be announced soon). So, give your pride and joy a good
polish, and you just might be receiving a prize from an Olympic gold
medallist. |
| Bring
your friends along too
There
will definitely be plenty for the classic car enthusiast to admire
and enjoy all day, and there is still time for even more cars to book
onto the event.
So
please tell all your classic car owning friends about the event, and
encourage them to come along too. Tickets are still available.
|
| Charity
Some
really terrific prizes will be available to win in the raffle,
including a day at the races, free days out at local attractions, and
meal vouchers. We're very grateful to all our kind donors.
So....don't forget to buy your tickets !
All
money raised will be donated to the charity Alopecia UK, of which
Joanna is ambassador. |
| The
more the merrier...
So,
we will be in touch with you soon again, but in between times please
do forward this email to all your classic car owning friends and club
mates, and let's make this unique event a great day to remember.
With
online prices for the showground held at £25 per car for just a
little while longer, it's terrific value at only £12.50 a person in
a 2 seater (or even cheaper if your car has rear seats !)
The
event is open to all British Classic & Sports cars (see website
for full list), and we want to see lots of club banners waving on the
day from as many great British marques as possible.
So
please give all your friends a nudge, and let's get the classic car season
off to a terrific start with Showcase at Cowdray.

We
look forward to welcoming you all to Cowdray on Sunday 7th
May
Yours
sincerely
