Hi Friend

The last two months of tasting has been unusually hard with the overall class of wines being shown a little underwhelming. This being the case we had to merge 2 months to find the gems, and even though few made the Vine grade the one’s that did were of Out-standing standard.
The Winners are:

Hidden Story (SE Australia)Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

Dark plum, chocolate and hints of coffee beans lead to a palate generously weighted, round and opulent.

Massoni (Pyrenees Vic) Shiraz 2008

The pyrenees ranges have always been a go to area for cabernet sauvignon area with Taltarni in the 80’s but we forget about Shiraz because more opulent styles/regions please the punters.
This was a favourite with the panel due to the complexity derived from letting a wine develop.
Cherries, plum, spice, gamey, leathery, vanillan, cocoa bean just to name a few. And the list goes on!
