Hi Friend

Vine Top 10 August
Sometimes due to Vine’s hard critique we have to combine 2 months submission tastings to finally be happy, not to say that the wines chosen are any less quality than other months just Vine prides itself in absolute best to market wines in all its price points.
We do all our tasting looking at quality for price and never substitute this because of supplier rebates like some of our bigger retailers!
So here is our Top 10 for July/August.

And the Winners are:
1.From Farm To Table Sauvignon Blanc 2015 -Vic
A refreshing easy to drink new world style Sauvignon Blanc displaying lifted aromas of passionfruit, limes and some grassiness fruit driven but in no way pungent. The palate is balanced with some crisp acidity in a food friendly style.
RRP $22.95
Vine Price $18.35
2.Ulithorne Dona Blanc 2016-McLaren Vale
A complex blend of Rhone varieties Rousanne and Marsanne and add a twist of pinot gris just for good measure. This wine displays exceptional fruit consisting of peach, paw paw and some citrus zest with good acid lines. We recommend a decant to achieve best results and definitely watch the evolution of complexity as the components of each varietal work in unison.
RRP $29.95
Vine Price $22.35
3. Man O War Exiled Pinot Gris 2014-Ponui Island NZ
Built like a wine from Alsace with ripe pear and wild honey fruit sweet yet not cloying or too oily like so many who attempt this style. This wine has mouth coating richness but the key hallmark that sets it apart is the tension from natural acidity that never lets go from front to back.
Probably the best pinot gris seen in 2016 outside of France and that’s a big call but an honest one!
RRP $36.95
Vine Price $27.95

4.In Dreams Chardonnay 2014-Yarra Valley
2014 was a great vintage in the Yarra with a cooler summer allowing the fruit to achieve ripeness whilst retaining acidity.
It’s a dream tasting a wine of this calibre elegantly balance with lovely freshness and ever so much drinkability and at this price so very hard to beat!
RRP $32.95
Vine Price $23.95
5.Cape Barren Native Goose G.S.M 2013-McLaren Vale
This could be described as the Goose that laid the Golden egg as it’s the first time we experienced a Grenache Blend that would put many Rhone producers to shame not just on quality but bang for the buck. Displaying deep savoury plum, cherry, spices and chocolate , earthiness with some grainy tannin and structure.(Yummy)
RRP $27.95
Vine Price $21.55
6.Grey Elk Tempranillo 2015-Margaret River
Grey Elk is a top quality Tempranillo that has been hand harvested from a single vineyard after a warm dry summer in Margaret River. Grey Elk has been matured for 6 months in old seasoned hogsheads and therefore oak is not prominent. It’s a fruit forward style wine with aromas and flavours of ripe dark plums and cherries and offering a long finish.
RRP $39.95
Vine Price $27.95

7.Pierre et Papa Rose 2015-Herault FR
Pierre et Papa comes from the beautiful Herault region in the south of France. It is made from Cinsault, a popular grape in the area. Juicy and fruity flavours of peaches and strawberries make it a light and refreshing rose and acidity is well balanced with fruits despite its off dry style.
RRP $22.95
Vine Price $15.95

8.Helen’s Hill Long Walk Pinot Noir 2015-Yarra Valley
Far from the red fruit flavours usually associated with Pinot Noir, Helen’s hill has more to do with ripe black fruits. Dark plums and cherries are balanced with sweet vanilla spice and earthy notes. This is a complex Pinot Noir for amateurs of oaky wines.
RRP $32.95
Vine Price $23.95

9.Frankland Estate “Rocky Gully” Shiraz 2014-Great Southern
Rocky Gully is a medium bodied Shiraz coming from the cool climate area around Frankland River in the Great Southern, Western Australia. Plum, spice, subtle oak and lifted aromatics due to the addition of a small amount of Viognier make it a well worth trying wine.
RRP $24.95
Vine Price $18.35
10.Ulithorne Dona Shiraz 2015-McLaren Vale
“Dona” is everything you would expect from a McLaren Vale Shiraz. It is full flavoured but easy drinking and particularly food friendly. It offers intense aromas of plums, chocolate and subtle peppery and forest floor notes.
RRP $29.95
Vine Price $22.35
