Until recently the Riverland in South Australia was always looked as a bulk wine producer dedicating it's hard labour to grannies silver handbags (cask wine).
So it took a real innovator to change the mindset of many, to see the light, and adapt the correct varieties to the terroir of this hot,dry landscape.
Enter Ashley Ratcliff in 2003 with a completely different mindset, replacing Chardonnay,Cabernet Sauvignon and more well known varieties with lesser known Arinto, Grenache Blanc, Nero d'Avola,Tempranillo & Montepulciano just to name a few !
