The three antidotes to manage overwhelm

Hey Friend,

I'm curious, what's causing you to feel overwhelmed right now?

I recently ran a LinkedIn poll to find out what is currently causing overwhelm for leaders. I was unsurprised to see the main one being, "there's so much going on".

The reality is, in today's fast paced environment, there will always be a lot going on - it's unlikely to stop, ever. So letting it overwhelm you is neither healthy or sustainable as a leader.

So, I've put together three antidotes that will help you to manage overwhelm and thrive in this 'always on' world:

Antidote #1 - GET ORGANISED

Get clear on what you want, where you're going and what success looks like (write out goals, objectives, etc). Then, prioritise your tasks and manage your time around that. Be intentional and make sure you set boundaries to maintain a balance across all the important areas of your life.

Antidote #2 - GET ACTIVE

Incorporate some type of physical movement into your day, every day. Whether it be a walk, run, dance around your living room or a gentle yoga class - moving your body will help get you out of your head. It will connect you to the present moment and stop you (or reduce at least) worrying about all the other 'stuff'.

Antidote #3 - GET FOCUSED

Chunk down your thoughts, go micro. Focus on one thing at a time. Keep it small, keep it simple. Create a space that allows you to focus (as much as possible) and develop a routine around what you're going to focus on throughout the day. Set yourself realistic and achievable tasks that will move you towards your outcome.

Then...GET TO WORK! Without the overwhelm.

Until then, stay awesome!
