HI Friend,
Would you agree that your circle of friends are your biggest influences in your life?
I'm sure you have heard the saying "You become the average of the 5 people you hang around most with."
If only I would have listened to the advice of my parents earlier.
When I first started my career as a mechanic, I wanted to work my way into management.
I realized very quickly that I had to start thinking differently.
If I ever wanted to become a service manager, I better stop spending most of my time thinking like the apprentices.
I started to form relationships with my foreman, my shop lead hand, and the service manager.
What I found is that they were having a totally different conversation then what was going on in the lunch room.
I realized they think and speak differently.
It's what separates the winners.
If I had any chance of stream lining my career, I had to start adopting their philosophies and mindset.
Fast forward 20 years and the same philosophy still ring true.
Surrounding yourself with people that have what you want in life, will help you attain it faster.
Period.
So stop hanging with the Jones when you want to be a Rockefeller.
And if you want to be a world class, you better surround yourself with those types of people.
I know this one tip will help you today.
Yours in mastery,
Sheldon
