| Shipping Costs Moving Forward…
We have been talking and praying about shipping costs for along awhile now. We have had the same $5 Flat Rate, with Free Shipping for orders over $50 since we started Silly Goats Soap in 2014.
USPS has raised their prices yet again for the holiday seasons. Please keep in mind a few things… 2014 a Small Flat Rate Box cost us $4.25 as of today that same box is $9.00 (that’s with our business rates). you might see us shipping products in Flat Rate padded envelopes lately too. They are usually $9.20 each (which is $1-4 less than a box option depending on where in the country it is going). They raise their prices every year but just like everything else the last 2 years. Shipping prices have gone up dramatically.
We know that everyone else is suffering from the cost of inflation of everything we need and use in our homes. Just like all of the products you use in your homes, the cost of materials we us to make the soaps and lotions, etc. have increased greatly. For example, A barrel of olive oil 2 years ago cost us $400, today it costs us over $1000.
We want to be able to offer affordable prices to everyone, it is part of our mission statement, and hate to raise rates. However, if we are run out of business, we will not be able to help those customers that count on us for their skin conditions, their babies and kids that need the products that we make. So, we are going to raising our shipping costs.
I will explain the new costs to you.
Instead of the $5 Flat Rate shipping we are going to offer 2 First Class options. First Class is defined as anything under 1 pound or 15.99 ounces. That in mind…
1-8 oz will be $4.49 (3-5 Day Delivery) (ex: a bar of soap)
8.1-15.9 oz will be $5.99 (3-5 Day Delivery) (ex: 2-3 bars of soap, or an 8oz lotion)
Over 1 Lb. (16 oz) will be $8.98. Priority Mail (Guaranteed 2-3 Day Delivery) (ex: 4 bars of soap, etc)
We will continue to offer Free shipping; however, we will be raising the threshold a little bit.
Free Shipping for any order $59 or more.
Please keep in mind, even raising rates in this way, we will still be covering a portion of the shipping costs on most orders. We just won’t be losing quite as much.
We are sorry to have to do this, but we also know you understand the situation that we have found our selves in.
We want to continue providing you with the products you love and in order to do that, we have to make some changes.
We will be making these changes during the next couple of days. If you need products now, order today and try and get in on the lower shipping rates before we get them changed to the new rates.
