A short email to begin your week:

Last fall, a priceless work of art was stolen from Blenheim palace in Great Britain.

A solid gold toilet estimated to be worth several million dollars!
I’m assuming this picture was taken before the theft… unless this is the ransom photo?
Months later, authorities have yet to find the toilet… and assume that it has since been melted down for the gold.

A tragedy!

The artist himself is known for his creative and eccentric pieces.

He takes the mundane and turns it into something luxurious and valuable.

Luxurious and valuable...

That’s exactly what I wanted to do with the “traditional piano lesson.”

Ten years ago, I was making $40/hr teaching piano in my suburb… that is $40/hr before taxes, before expenses, before equipment costs, before memberships, before conferences, before personal development, before marketing costs, before business travel, before legal fees, before accounting fees, before state filing fees, the list goes on and on and on.

Fast forward to now…

For every hour that I teach group, the hourly fee adds up to about $140 / hr.

And that’s in my Midwestern city…
I have helped many studios convert to group on both the East Coast and West Coast that are bringing in $200/hr - $300/hr for a group class (I sent you an email about that last week - let me know if you didn’t receive it).

At that rate, you could teach 12 hours a week and make five figures per month teaching music.

One studio in Virginia that I have partnered with has a unique structure that brings in just shy of $600/hr and they do this with just 3 teachers in studio.

THREE!

Some might accuse me of being in poor taste in speaking about money. But, if we can’t have a frank discussion about business in our field, when can we have it?

Bottom line?

I teach because I love it.

Most teachers do.

But, it doesn’t mean we can’t be paid what we are worth.

On February 17th, I open the doors to my Successful Group Lessons training. That’s just one week from today!

The 2nd week of the training focuses entirely on how to promote and communicate the value of your new group lesson program.

It will show you how to start your program… and not have to reduce your rates.

In the past two years, I have not had even ONE studio have to reduce their rate to get their group program off the ground… and I’ve helped approximately 215 studios begin a program in the past 3 years.

Would love to show you how to do the same thing.

Registration opens on the 17th. Mark your calendar!

Very best,
Daniel
